Does the calories burned look accurate?

Hello, i just purchased the charge 6 and thought the total calories burned yesterday looked a little high, for context I am 22M, 271ibs, just started working on my fitness so im not sure if that number is typical for what i did.

Steps: 12,239

Zone minutes: 50

Miles: 5.68

Calories: 4,361

Hello & welcome @ZacharyB717

That does seem like a higher number of calories for the tracked distance.

Just brainstorming here: Have you confirmed that your birth year is correct for your Google account? Several users discovered that their Google account has their birth year as "1900".

To check your information:

  • Tap on your picture (Android) / gear icon (iOS) in the upper right of the Today app
  • Select Manage your Google Account
  • Tap on Personal Info and scroll down to see your birthday
  • If your birth year is not correct, tap on the arrow to the right of your birth date. Update your birth year on the following page

Thank you for the response, my Birth year is set accurately, i read that the fitbit tracks passive calorie loss as well, if thats true the total numher i burned activity is only around 3000

I also forgot to mention in the original post that i did a 30 minute cardio session where it tracked about 500 calories lost in that time

Hi @ZacharyB717

Thanks for confirming your birth date is correct.

I did a search and found this help article which includes an explanation on how Fitbit calculates calories burned (<-- click link).

You might want to monitor your daily calorie burn and see if you continue to get similar numbers. You could actually be getting that level of calorie burn with your activities.
