Doesn’t accurately count steps

My Fitbit does not accurately count my steps. Does anybody else have an issue with this? I can get on my treadmill and walk 1000 steps and have it counted by my treadmill so I know it’s accurate and my stupid Fitbit won’t register half of it even.   This is extremely frustrating and I’m about to just buy something new

Hello @glocklear

Wrist worn fitness trackers, including Fitbits, use arm movement in step tracking. Fitbits have a 3-axis accelerometer to count your steps. This sensor also allows your device to determine the frequency, duration, intensity, and patterns of your movement. Limited arm movement, like pushing carts, baby carriages, & lawn mowers, will mean not all steps will be tracked.

If you're holding onto the handrails while you're using the treadmill, that will result in less steps tracked.

Thank you for your response.  That is what I was afraid of  and that's not going to work for me.  I had one years ago that worked much better than this one.  Steps are steps and should be counted as such.  I can sit in a chair and move my arm and add fake steps.  I need a more accurate device so I will start searching.  Thanks again.
