Dynamic mode switches from phone to built-in after 30s

So I got my Charge 6 on Wednesday and have been loving it so far, but with one major caveat. When I use "Dynamic" GPS mode, my Charge 6 piggy backs from my phone for the first 30 seconds then switches to the built in GPS. Turning Dynamic mode off and choosing "Phone" eliminates this issue and the connection remains to the phone. I would leave it like this, but I do go on runs without my phone so I need the GPS to be set on Dynamic. Obviously using the built in GPS is not a good idea for when going on long walks/hikes (which is what I intend to do) as the battery would not last very long, so I need the GPS to work from my phone. 

I cannot find anything about this issue online. Have tried reinstalling the app and giving it all the location and background battery permissions to no avail. It ALWAYS switches at the 30 to 32 second mark.

@mykecawl never experienced that. My Charge 6 built-in GPS doesn't work at all and that includes dynamic mode (which in fact may be something like your issue because if my Charge 6 switches automatically to built-in GPS then that explains why it doesn't work for me) and if I want to get any tracking I need to use "Phone". This is the worst GPS tracker/watch I've ever owned.
