ECG on my Charge 6 does not workvery well

I have a Charge 6 and the ECG app is giving me problems. Most of the time, when I open the app to start a measurement, it may take 2 to 3 minutes before it starts doing anything at all. It doesn't matter where I put my thumb and forefinger or how hard I squeeze them on the fitbit. I try every position for my fingers imaginable. I tried taking the Fitbit off and making sure the underside is clean with no liquid on it. I try resting my arm in different positions, nothing helps. Then eventually it will start giving me reasons, but they are garbage. It,s hard to explain, but they are definetly not close to what they are supposed to look like. Then eventually the readings start getting closer and closer to what they should be (even if I was in AFib). The results will still come back as inconclusive. Then after 5 to 10 minutes I finally get good readings but it is very frustrating. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hello @bhbitts

This help page has the recommended troubleshooting steps to try when you are having problems getting ECG readings (<-- click link).

I know that in the winter time, I need a bit of moisture on my fingertips to get a good connection due to the drier air.

I've tried that along with everything else in the troubleshooting steps. I owned a previous Fitbit (although I can't remember which one it was) and the ECG worked just fine. I may just need to move on to another brand of smartwatches

Thank you for sharing the inquiry regarding the ECG app and for trying to fix it on your own through the different troubleshooting steps you performed so far.

Even if you already tried some of them, please give a try to the following steps in the order listed:

  1. Uninstall the ECG app from your Charge 6.
  2. Force quit the Fitbit app and restart your tracker.
  3. Open the Fitbit app and pull down on the screen to force a manual sync.
  4. Install the ECG app one more time and make sure the permissions are enabled.
  5. From the You tab in the Fitbit app, find the ECG tile in the Health assessments section. Tap Set up and follow the instructions.
  6. Try taking a reading one more time and see how it goes.

Thanks for the help provided @RiekoC

My Fitbit ecg will only ever give me inconclusive results on my wrists and I’ve tried EVERYTHING. However, when my husband wears it it shows perfect rhythm, when I wear it it’s just wiggly lines with no sign of normal rhythm. Weirdly when I try it on my ankle it works perfectly and says normal sinus rhythm, also if I place it on my thigh it works perfectly. Not sure why but it doesn’t pick it up from my wrists, might be worth trying the same.
