Fitbit Charge 6 won't sync or restart

Plugged in a new Fitbit Charge 6 out of the box today and it won't sync to my Fitbit app - 

1. The watch display just says "download the fitbit mobile app".

2. The charger is plugged in, and has been plugged in long enough to be fully charged, but the display does not change. It does make a vibrate noise when connected though, suggesting the charger itself is not broken.

3. When trying to sync via the Fitbit app, the device cannot be located.

4. Have tried pressing the button on the charging cable 3 times to reset. The watch vibrates a little each time but there is no reset happening.

5. Have tried on/off with bluetooth and deleting / reinstalling app.

The Fitbit is utterly unresponsive and just shows the "download the fitbit mobile app" message.

Greetings. I synced my Charge 6 to the "Lose It" app, and when I woke this morning, it was frozen with no response. I have tried everything that has been suggested and still it's been sitting g on the charger since 0500 am, (it's 1200 pm now), so what do I need to do to send it to Fitbit to get fixed? I have had a prior Charge 6 that had the same issue but didn't bother with trying to get it repaired.

I am also having trouble syncing my fitbit with the app on my iphone. I cannot turn the fitbit on and off as I cannot get to the home screen it only shows "download the app" over and over. My charger does not have a button on it so I cannot do it that way either. I am at a loss.

Hello @kyle2 

There should be a small inset button on one side of the USB end of the charging cable that came with your device.

There's a 3rd way to restart your Charge 6. This help page (<-- click link) describes how to restart the device using the charging cable and also shows where the button on the charging cable is located.

I just received my Charge 6 and I use an iPhone 15 pro max. To set up your fitbit, 1. download the app on your smart phone 2. restart your phone. 3. then continue with set up. make sure your fitbit is charged before you try to pair it to your phone. This worked for me. Good Luck!

Same frustrating issues except my screen is blank now. Never could be found by my iPhone as bluetooth device. Tried EVERYTHING in instructions to turn on Charge 6, re-start watch, re-install app, phone off and on, plug in to charger longer, button pushing as prescribed in watch instructions, but to no avail. All past Fitbits worked great. This one is junk.

Grrrr!

Since it looks like you've tried the recommended troubleshooting without success, the next step would be to contact Support (<-- click link). Complete the prompts until you get the option to chat or call.

Depending on how long you've had your Charge 6, you may have options under warranty.

Thank you so much for addressing my post! I was so frustrated the day I wrote it. I tried something else that my husband suggested. He has a Charge 6 also, and he had me use his charge cord. As soon as my watch was connected to it there was an awakening that allowed me to finish the set up process. I have been wearing the Fitbit for 2 days now, and all the functions seem to be working. Not sure what made the difference with his charger, but this may help someone else.

No longer grumbling.

Not to worry. I can relate to being frustrated when something should go smoothly, but doesn't.

Thank you for the update and letting us know that you were able to finish the setup using your husband's charging cable. That indicates to me that the charging cable you got with your Charge 6 is defective.

If you've had your Charge 6 for less than a year, you might want to contact Support to let them know that your charging cable is defective. I believe they will replace it under warranty. Or you could get a 3rd party charging cable. If it doesn't have the restart button, you can still restart your Charge 6 by putting it on the charger & disconnecting it as described on this help page (<-- click link)

My Charge 6 is not syncing with the app on the phone. What do I do, it's been like it for 8 days apparently. I haven't even gotten my weekly Fitbit report on Tuesday because of it. Can anyone help?
