GPS on Charge 6 keeps disconnecting

When using my GPS on a walk or a Run it always disconnects. This has been an issue since the new update

Hi @ajkendal are you using the phones GPS or the GPS in the Charge 6? Have you tried both..

@ajkendal for me, it has been an issue since I got Charge 6. Dynamic and Built-In always disconnect (sometimes never connect) and don't reconnect. Only Phone mode works more or less stable.

For me, connecting to GPS takes about 1-5 mins (I know it's a long time). I use built-in GPS during runs, so I usually press the run tile on my watch but not the play button in the run tile. While waiting for the GPS I tend to stretch outside so that once it connects I can just run. I am not sure why it disconnects, but a factor could be that you are running in very crowded areas (eg, dense forest, a city full of buildings, etc). The only thing I could recommend is to run w/ your phone so that it will connect to your phone's GPS, or to run somewhere less "full". Hope this helps

@ShadowFT the GPS disconnect usually 5-10min into the run. I run trails but often these are open sky areas and connection is lost in such areas (I would expect GPS to be stronger under clear sky but that's not the case). The problem is that it never recovers and watch eventually gives up on trying. The built-in GPS support is very poor comparing to other watches I use. Using Dynamic mode didn't work either. Phone mode works but it drains phone battery very fast (much quicker than using GPS with Google Maps or Strava apps). Fitbit never offered good and stable GPS support on any watch. Not sure why even bother to waste space in such a small tracker for poorly working GPS chipset rather ie. bring back altimeter.

@Rich_Laue sorry, I have a charge 5. And it takes forever to connect, once it does. It breaks within the first 10 mins of the walk
