I have not logged any food yet today, and my card on the today screen shows zero calories. When I click on it, it shows that I am over budget at zero calories in and 75 calories out. (The 75 calories out is not correct either!)

No, it does NOT mean I recently ate a meal and haven't burned off those calories - as I said, I had entered NO CALORIES AT ALL. It shows that I have eaten ZERO 0 ZERO calories. I understand how the algorithm is supposed to work; I am not asking that same question that always gets asked about how the calories left are calculated. But having not entered ANY CALORIES AT ALL, and therefore having a total of ZERO calories consumed, it is showing that I am over budget. It shows I ate ZERO calories and burned 75 calories (the 75 is also incorrect) and is telling me that, after eating NOTHING AT ALL and burning 75 calories, I am over budget. Eating NO FOOD has put me over budget.

How many calories had you burn, and what is the calorie deficit needed to loose weight?
Let's say that fitbit is looking for a 500 calorie deficit in a day. You have just woken up, and have only burnt your BMR of 75 calories. 75 - 500 deficit will put you at negative 425. Making you 425 calories over budget.
You say that 75 calories are wrong. These would be the calories that your body burns to keep you alive. Your BMR for a BMR calculator, tap here.

Mine has the same problem. It always says that I'm over budget, so I don't pay attention to it. I just look at my total calorie intake and do the math in my head. Since Google took over several things have broken.

To answer this question, we will need to know your calorie deficit.
Even when you do not eat anything, you will be over budget until your body has burnt enough calories to cover your deficit. Then you will be fine until your first meal. Which probably will take you over budget. The idea is to be under at the end of the day
