Hi Folks,
I'm sporting a charge 6 for a week now, and can't say I'm quite impressed. Reason for buying was that the Xiaomi smartwatch I used took oodles of time to converge on GPS, that caused me to miss easy 10 minutes of my walk.
I'm thinking this Charge 6 is having the same problem.
The Xiaomi at least showed me the route I walked in my exercise. For the likes of me I can't find the map in the fitbit app.
There's other bits and bops I don't like, but to save you a long yarn let me say this:
50 years ago was the first time I fired up a computer. I've pretty much seen computing and networking make its way to mainstream. But loday's products are 'minimal viable products' at best, but don't deliver on the promise. So you young whippersnapper developers listening.. you have to do better, a **ahem** side better at that, because grandpa is not impressed.

Sorry but there is no guarantee developers are listening, this is a community help page where your fellow Community users help each other out, we have the feedback area for giving feedback to the Developers. 1966 at the age of 12 was the first time i logged into a PDP10 at Bell Labs
Did the Carge 6 show that it connected to GPS? We can use thedgphones GPS or the builtfhin GPS on the Charge 6. If so, in the exercise list, you should see GPS. Tap the exercise and the map should be on the top of the next page.

For GPS the charge 6 is not that great, forget about the built in GPS it loses connection. A scientist youtuber and another tested the GPS on the charge 6 amongst the worst. In respect to connected GPS connected to phone. In my experience it takes ages to connect my Huawei cheap tracker was more effective at connecting and fairly reliable. I tried track cycling 3 times this week I think it worked once with GPS With my Huawei i would be odd for it not to work. The charge 6 has many extra features. It measure heart rate every 5 seconds compared to every few minutes when resting. The Sleep tracker is considered better by the testers. There is greater support and the data can be more easily shared I can import my smart scales data that I could not do with my Huawei. In terms of tracking runs a Huawei may be better I dont know. My main purpose for buying my charge was not to track runs or cycles more sleep a watch and health. From reading the comments it appears in the states insurance companies ask people to wear a fitbit charge but do they ask people to wear a Xiaomi ? I recall reading for sleep tracking and resting heart rate Xiaomi are amongst the worst It may be the GPS is its strongest area. From the reviews I think Huawei is only decent cheap one that beats the more expensive ones on something's but not overall. Huawei app does not appear in the google app any more and people say there is security issues with Huawei so people dont use them that much any more

So it's mostly assumptions on my part, thinking the built-in GPS would be worth something.
This morning's walk was where I took my phone with me and had the fitbit app active.
Before starting the work I enabled GPS, that I earlier assumed it would kick in at the start of an out-door activity like walking. Like I said, assumptions.
Me referring to IT's early morning shows the initial linear evolution being topped off and on a downward trajectory. I should have realised that although it might have more processing power than the LEM, it has not evolved to what I thought it might have
That said, your kind response got me going, I thank you for that

Thanks for your informative response.

If @Rich_Laue would not have pointed me in the direction to get this thing doing what I bought it for, I would've returned it for a refund.
I know how communities work, and that some community members have direct communication with Fitbit or Google staff. I hope they will be made aware that Fitbit/Google are not playing a fair game to their customers, delivering a product that is seriously flawed and most likely will never deliver on the promises.
As it is, it works on the workaround of me having my phone with me. But like I said in my opening note, I am not impressed, and I'm a lot less gullable when it comes to buying a Google/Fitbit fitness product
