How to add Suica to Charge 6 while in Taiwan?

Hello everyone,

I just bought a Fitbit Charge 6 in Japan last week, mainly because it supports Suica. I am now back in Taiwan.

However, I'm stuck trying to set up Google Wallet on the tracker.

Inside the Fitbit app, when I tap on "Google Wallet," the system only shows options to "Add credit/debit card" and "Add iPASS" (Taiwan's local card). There is absolutely no button to "Add SUICA."

I remember with my older tracker (which used the Fitbit Pay system), I could just go to the Fitbit website, change my profile "Country/Region" to "Japan," and the Suica option would appear in the app. I was able to add it successfully even while in Taiwan.

But now that the Charge 6 uses the Google Wallet system, this old method seems to be useless.

I've already tried changing both my Google account region and my Fitbit profile region to Japan. I've also restarted the app and cleared the cache, but the Suica option just won't show up.

I'd like to ask those of you with experience:

1.Have the restrictions on Google Wallet become stricter? Is it now only possible to add Suica while physically in Japan (or perhaps using a Japanese IP)?

2.Or are there other settings or steps that I haven't tried?

My tracker is the Japanese version, so the hardware definitely supports it. It's really frustrating that I can't activate this feature after returning to Taiwan...

Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello @JeffHsu

Even though you changed your location in your Google & Fitbit profile, your Fitbit app is identifying with your network's location. So it sees that you're in Taiwan and not Japan. Therefore, it will only show those Google Wallet cards that are compatible in Taiwan.

I've seen Fitbit users who are international travelers use a VPN, which they set to their home country. By using a VPN, they've reported that they are able to use the Fitbit features that are supported in their home country, but not supported in the country where they're currently located. The main drawback of using a VPN, though, is that users have reported that their sleep schedule and workout times are off when there's a time difference between their home country and where they are located.
