I want to disconnect Google from my account - but apparently that's not an option

I foolishly bought a Charge 6 after my Charge 5 died, without realising that I needed a Google account for it (I know, it's everywhere. I just didn't really look around, entirely my own fault). I was uncomfortable about having Google connected to Fitbit, but all my friends and family use the app.

However, because none of my friends and family have Google accounts attached to the app, I've lost the social function on the app - the only reason I wanted to use it in the first place. And now I can't go back and disconnect my Google account and return to my old one, either, it's either the Google account or nothing.

So... there's zero point in me continuing to use Fitbit, is there? Nobody's going to make the switch until they have to next year, and to be honest I find the whole situation very distasteful and disappointing so I'm certainly not going to go around and ask people. It feels like Fitbit have intentionally made Charge 6 require a Google account and intentionally made it impossible to synch with non-Google accounts in order to force people to switch earlier.

Yup, same here.  I feel suckered by these marketing folks who impose their stuff on us.  

1- I do NOT want EMail on my phone.  I got a PC for that.

2- If you're gona impose google on me, why don't you EMail my stats to me?

Same here as well, I have had 4 fitbits and now I have the 6, I was so amazed at Fitbit customer service, you called them and they would pick up in 2 rings and actually help you. Now google has taken over it has slowly demised to stupid FAQ and community help and you have to search an hour for a simple problem

Plus another problem is that my fitbit doesn’t automatically sync it forces me to go to the app and I know this is a google ploy to get you logged in, I never had to do this 

plus another problem the automatic password from google is so dumb as I have multiple accounts and logging into your account is a hassle I just wanted one simple pw for fitbit and keep me signed in 

and another my 3rd apps don’t work anymore 

and another why can’t we do the challenges anymore?? Now I have to use Stridekick just for a nice challenge 

why did 6 get rid of the elevation I build all my badges like a tower that was fun 

the countdown of the numbers like vegas machines is cheesy as well just sync it 

plus I liked the simple look of the old fitbit much more it was more clean, concise just give me my exercise data please stick to the core business and don’t be like google and get distracted by features like putting YouTube on the fitbit or gmaps all people have a phone when using the fitbit so they will go there. 

please let me disconnect my google account

The future is google.!!! Fitbit branding is being phased out. Starting last year all future products will be Google devices. Would even predict that charge 7 will be branded a Google charge 7 health tracker. The app hasn’t changed that much and I expect Google do have plans with social media networks in future updates. Remember if you have a gmail that is a google account that can be used.
