Did something change with the sleep tracking on the Charge 6 on or about 23 June 2025. While I used to have sleep scores consistently above 80 with 8 hours sleep, since that date my scores are between 66 and 74 and it shows sleep times between 6 or 7 hours every day (I would occasionally get these sort of sleep scores previously but only if i had a bad nights sleep). Personally, I have not noticed any change in my actual sleep patterns. I have reinstalled my app and restarted my Fitbit and Bluetooth. I have not changed the way I sleep or how I wear the Fitbit. Is there a setting I need to change? Or was there an update that changed the way sleep scores are calculated. Thx

Why didn’t you share what I did regarding the specific algorithm change?
"If you previously tracked sleep with Fitbit, your log showed the time spent awake, restless, and asleep. We fine-tuned our mechanism for tracking sleep to estimate your sleep stages by incorporating heart rate and other data. As a result, we combined your awake and restless time into total awake minutes to give you a clearer picture of your sleep cycles. You may notice more awake minutes in your sleep stages than in your previous sleep data due to this change."

Thanks for posting this - it makes complete sense. An algorithm is only as good as the people who develop it and it would appear that Fitbit have made a mess of their latest attempt. It wouldn't be hard for them to roll it back, unless the mess they created was intentional and given Fitbit's silence on the matter you have to wonder.

@CrisVillaFitbit- I never knew about the sensitivity settings! For some reason mine was set to "sensitive" - just changed it to "normal" . THANKS!!! (note: I was happy with it before change but I want to see what it says with it set to normal!)
Note: my need with any activity tracker is that it will give me a rough idea of what is going on. Fitbit seems to do that for me.

Thanks for the info. My theory is that these programmers are all very young people who have no clue about people's actual sleep patterns. Or AI? But Gemini, Google's AI, would know better.
I must get up 2-4 times a night (essential medication effects and pets), so Sensitive setting works better for me. I've had the Charge 6 only about 3 weeks, and the sleep reports have been erratic -- most of the time fine, sometimes recording only half the night or just wrong. So I hope they're hearing people banging on the pipes and fix it.
Overall, I think Google has done a lot to IMPROVE Fitbit, which had declined considerably before they bought it and introduced the Inspire 3. That's their best-ever model in the history of Fitbit (my first one was the Flex, the second model). I do NOT want a watch, ever, but I need to monitor health-related things (not "workouts"), so I really hope they'll fix this and a couple of minor problems and maybe even make the Charge 7 the best-ever model.

Restless does not equal awake times. With so many customers complaining it is hard to believe your company isn't listening or addressing this issue.
I am looking elsewhere.
----------
I agree. Its not working for me either. Fitbit messed up on this one.
----------
Yes, please change it back. It s awful
----------
I totally agree. I hate the new sleep algorithm.

I totally agree. Something is way off. They obviously do not care about the customer concerns. I got an email with my average sleep time for the week and it was no where close to what I slept or even what my watch calculated. I do not know what they are doing. I don't think they do either.

Restless sleep is not the same as awake time. I hate the new algorithm. I hope Fitbit is listening to their customers. I am looking into other devices as well as so many other customers. The tech support is awful. Let me know if you find a sleep tracking device that is better.

Sleep score 47 last night. Since late June these scores are nonsense. It’s time Fitbit got it’s act together and sorted it out.

My issues with my sleep score continue and it doesn’t appear any of our complaints or messaging in these forums are being heard or addressed by Fitbit. My score last night was a 67 with 3 hours of awake time. I’m going to give Fitbit some more time to fix this issue and then if not I’ll need to make a decision about an alternative. I’m 3 fitbits and 7 years a customer so this is very discouraging for me. I also wear an Oura ring which is very good but different then my Fitbit tracker. Any suggestions on alternatives would be appreciated.

100% agree with this complaint. Sleep tracking is now worthless. If you're asleep a few hours and then have to hit the bathroom, Fitbit doesn't connect the two sleep periods. Editing sleep data manually defeats one of the selling points of automated Fitbit tracking.

If you all look on your weekly progress email (I’m on Fitbit inspire 3) report you will see that your hours asleep is more then what’s on the app. I am usually in the 8 hours asleep score and now in the 60’s and 70’s. But on the email today for the last week I have on average 8 hours 59 minutes sleep but on Fitbit for the week it says 7 hours 40 minutes.?That’s why I know the sleep algorithm is wrong. They can’t even match up the email and the app. 🤷:female_sign:

Nearly 2 months of inaccurate sleep scores. New app update (v4.49) does not seem to have addressed the issue. If you are not a bot, @StefanieFitbit can you kindly let the Community know your response to the following questions:
!) Does Fitbit believe there is any current issue with the sleep tracking accuracy?
2) If there is an issue, does Fitbit intend to address it with an update?
3) If the answer is NO to either of these questions, can you recommend a replacement product?

My experience is very similar to above. Due to sleep issues I have been keeping a sleep log for about a year and used my Charge 6 data for a lot of it. When things went haywire in June I thought it was a hardware problem so I bought a new Charge 6 a couple of weeks ago. When this gave me the same results I did some research which led me to this thread on the Forum If Fitbit doesn't give us a solution or at least more information (questions above) then I am going to return product to Walmart saying it "doesn't work".

same here!
The sleep score is useless since July.
If Fitbit does not act on our complaints it is time to return the charge 6, cancel the premium and look for better alternatives

It would be helpful if Google acknowledged the problem and that it is across multiple devices. If all other functions are working, it highlights it is a server issue with their flawed sleep algorithm misinterpreting data! Awake is NOT = Awake + Restless. Sleep experts agree!
I had a decent score - 85 for last night but 1:25 of awake time, including a bogus it took me 30 minutes to fall asleep! And yet another day of no update for Readiness Score - I must tap on that section and voila a number appears. I’m planning today to put an updated review on the App Store with a 1 star rating given how unstable the app overall has become.
