Hi, are there any changes between Charge 5 and 6 ? The Charge 5 was not really suitable for swimming, mosts devices failed after that.

I used my huawei band in the shower for 4 years with out incident. The same when I had a Casio that was only water resistant. If the Charge 6 does not stand up to normal use its time to switch brand. The other makes manage with thermal expansion that occurs with luke warm water. If you had fitbits that previously failed after swimming may be time to change brand as fitbit are possibly not doing their job properly. Apple Garmin and the cheapies like Huawei can do swimming can they not. It sounds like Fitbit are charging premium money for a subprime product when it comes to swimming. I dont swim much so not much of an issue for me

I've been swimming 3x a week for 8 months without a problem, no special treatment for the watch, just wear it while rinsing off after pool sessions.

I've had 2 Charge 5's now and both of them died immediately after swimming in the sea. If the Charge 6 is the same, I'm going nowhere near it. Basically the 5atm thing is a blatant lie. I'd call it splash resistant at best. They can cover themselves with provisos but you are basically taking a gamble every time you get it wet. Better if they just not call it water resistant in the first place. The only real exercise I get is in the water and I want something guaranteed to cope.

I had the opportunity to test the Fitbit Charge 6 during a swimming session in a pool. Although it survived the session, I was disappointed that it didn't record any heart rate data. I had a Garmin Venu 3 on my other wrist and it recorded heart rate perfectly throughout the session. The Fitbit Charge 6 records heart rate continuously 24/7 at 1-second intervals. It stops recording heart rate when you activate the swimming workout. What a joke! I had to double tap for 10 minutes to disable the water lock at the end of the session as it struggled to register the touch.

I suspect the washing chemicals damaged something like the gasket seals etc… for example my misses cleaned the bathroom shower heads with bathroom cleaners and the shower heads kept breaking every two years when I told the shop I was buying the replacement shower head from he said it was the cleaning stuff that was breaking and deteriorating and breaking the showerheads.

I have a new charge 6, having run over my 5 😵 and I’m gutted! The 6 does not realise im swimming so I have to put it into tracking my swim mode then it doesn’t register my heart rate! If I don’t set it to “swim” it tracks heart rate but thinks I’m rowing!! Says a lot about my stroke but I am so upset as I only swim (injury issues) and now I can’t track my sessions!
Is this an issue of the 6 or since Google took over?? Anyone help? 😭

My second charge 5 died after only an about a year after getting water in the back (first one was a victim of the software update fiasco). My charge 6 was an early Christmas present to replace this and I was reluctant to get it due to my previous 2 issues. Shouldn’t have bothered.. not even 6 months old and I wore it in the pool for the first time only for water to get in it and fry it. I can’t even swim properly right now and was literally just walking through the water as I have a broken arm at the moment. This product is a joke. I won’t be buying another.

How do you set up fitbit6 for the "Swim" info?
