Minus symbol on top of screen

I'm not sure if it's supposed to do this but anytime I tap the screen of my fitbit charge to check the time, the minus symbol indicating the drop down menu appears for a couple seconds and then disappears. I just want to know if that's supposed to happen and if not how do I fix it.
