Mirror Your Phone - disable to stop notifications

There is a feature on my Charge 6 (unsure if it is related to Premium) called "Mirror your phone". It states "Let your device display the same notifications as your phone. Is this is on, manage app notifications from your phone settings." Enabling this was a classic case of not having enough clear information, a moment of "let's see what will happen if I toggle this".

What it does not say is, "enabling this may bring constant unwanted weather updates, harsh vibrations simultaneously with your phone's alarms, reminders of how much sleep you will miss if you don't get in bed right now".

I followed other instructions for turning off notifications that did not work to remove these notifications.

Poking around again today, I found what I was looking for.

From the Today screen of the app...

  • Click the phone/device icon in the top left (Connected to Fitbit)
  • Click on the connected device (Charge 6 for me)
  • Under Settings, click Notifications (calls, texts, and app notifications)
  • Under General, toggle off Mirror your phone
  • You can also tap each other type below that to toggle on or off as you wish. (Calls, Texts, Calendar events, Emails, App notifications)

You will probably need to sync again before these are in effect, but this should free your wrist from all the buzzing distractions.

Good luck!

Hello @agsteinkamp

Thanks for sharing this. I think a lot of users select Mirror Your Phone without realizing that they will get a lot more notifications on their Fitbits than they need or want.

This will be an excellent post to use as a Reference for other users who report that they get way too many notifications.
