Since Google's acquisition of Fitbit in 2021, a quiet decline has fallen over what was once a symbol of personal vitality and technological elegance. The company, once driven by a spirit of precision, community, and trust, has been hollowed out—its proud structure dismantled piece by piece, its features removed as if by a callous surgeon. Faithful users, who had long trusted their steps, sleep, and hearts to this tool of modern self-discovery, now navigate errors and silence: gone are the dashboards, the broken syncs, and the sterile automations of customer support. They are told to surrender their identities to the monolith—to merge their very selves into the vast machinery of Google, or have their histories erased. In doing so, the promise of human progress through technology has turned into a cautionary tale of domination: a slow suffocation under the weight of data, control, and corporate abstraction. What was once a symbol of health and individuality now stands as a relic of lost faith, a testament to how easily the pursuit of progress can consume the very soul that conceived it.
