I’ve been a happy user of Fitbit for years and have owned numerous iterations of the Charge. However recently, particularly since I upgraded to Charge 6, I have been increasingly disappointed by the device and the app.
As a runner, the GPS tracking is now very poor. Tracking ends prematurely during a run and the mappping looks very twisted, I assume the signal is dropping in and out (I live in the rural Scotland so it’s not tall buildings or tall trees) Also, when training for an event, I compared my Garmin Forerunner and the Fitbit distance was consistently 10% wrong (also confirmed by Google maps).
I accept that the Charge is only a £100 device but it used to be much better.
Syncing with the app takes an age and some useful features have been removed. I particularly miss being able to reclassify an auto detected activity.
A lot of this deterioration seems to be since Google acquired the company. Presumably lack of investment.
Unfortunately, I can’t see myself buying another Fitbit in the future.
