Did you mean:

New Charge 6 not recording sleep

ANSWERED

Very disappointed so far.  I've had a number of Fitbit Charges over the years, got the 6 with high hopes.  I've been wearing it 24 * 7 for two weeks.  I have only slept one night and have not walked up a single staircase.

I've tried everything without success.  Only thing it does is count my steps and give me my heartbeat.

Can't get it to re-start, says no updates available.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am a restless sleeper I read somewhere I have to be still for 10 minutes for it to think I'm asleep, that will NEVER

happen.

Hello @Deirdre784

Fitbit doesn't handle the shift from Daylight Saving to Standard time very well. We see this issue twice a year. It usually messes up sleep and other health metrics and takes at least a day for everything to update correctly.

I've seen another UK user mention that they aren't seeing the hourly heart rate data in the app after the time change. Let us know if you see your heart rate graphs return sometime tomorrow.

Thanks Rieko, will do

Heart rate for the day now appears.

Sleep looks much better and aligns with how i felt i slept but…. I woke about 15 mins later than it says (and chart shows i was in deep sleep at the time). Edited the end time which changes the total time asleep but doesn’t change the chart, or the breakdown (asleep / REM etc).

---

Sleep all messed up again now (or still, didn’t fully recover even after latest app update). Really infuriating. Only starts recording nearly an hour after i get into bed, and finishes several hours before i wake up. Deleted last night’s sleep, closed fitbit, then re-opened. Synced, no data. Tried the plus button and it added 5 hours sleep, no score or detail, finishing at the exact time i was adding it.

As shown here….

If i delete the app, will it delete all my data (6 years worth), and then re-install the app, or won’t it help, so don’t bother.

Hello @Deirdre784

Sorry to see that you're still having problems with sleep tracking.

Just to let you know, deleting the Fitbit app, then re-installing it will not delete your years of data. When you sync your Fitbit with the app, your data is stored on the Fitbit servers under your account. You would have to delete your account to remove your data from the Fitbit servers.

I've deleted the Fitbit app and re-installed it multiple times with no loss of data. If you log out of the app first, all your data is synced to the servers as part of the log out process. I usually sync my Fitbit to the app, too, before logging out and removing the app.

Cheers @RiekoC will try it in the morning. Not had a good day today, issues logging into google and all sorts.

Bizarrely my sleep appears to have recorded ok last night so not tried deleting and re-installing.

Don’t like the message which comes up though. Put me off doing it last week.

Hi @Deirdre784

No wonder you're hesitant to delete the Fitbit app. I would be hesitant, too, with that message.

If/when you want to try deleting & re-installing the Fitbit app, be sure to sync first, then log out. When you re-install the app and log back in, you should see all your historical data.

@RiekoC - can’t afford to lose my data, especially heart rate, so will leave it for now snd hope the sleep returns to normal (regularly) soon. Thanks for you help.

I’m happy to hear this. When I tried to report an issue with editing sleep logs (the chart and score no longer update to reflect the new time), I was told it doesn’t work that way. As if it hasn’t worked that way for years now. I have to edit my sleep almost every night, so I’m well aware that this is how it used to work until recently. It is now useless to me as a sleep tracker.

@CJW88 agreed! Worked happily until a few weeks ago but useless now. Last night it recorded 2 separate chunks of sleep, both of 3-4 hours, with separate awake etc details. Edited the longest one, and it simply changed to total sleep but didn’t touch the detail. Deleted both and synced and it now shows just awake / restless / asleep so still useless. If i didn’t need the heart rate data (and want the exercise data) i’d stop using it.

Sorry that’s happening to you too, but glad I’m not the only one!

Switch to dominant hand or vice versa on app and it works

I’ve given up, totally useless and very disappointed after nearly 6 years. Need my sleep info, so looking at alternatives. Can’t wear my ‘watch’ on the wrong wrist sadly.

Thanks all, hope things get back to normal eventually.

Hello @Deirdre784

Sorry to see that you're still having problems getting consistent sleep data.

Is your heart rate tracking working okay? Do you see a green light on the back of your Charge 6? The green light is the optical heart rate sensor and is needed for sleep tracking.

By any chance, have you tried wearing the Charge 6 on the inside of your wrist at night? Some users have reported that they see more consistent sleep data when they turn their Fitbit to the inside of their wrist at night.
