I had a Charge 4 which started to give problems by registration of my burned calories during my sleep. After updates, resets etc I was tired of it and bought a Charge 6… but guess what… same problem, I only have it for 2 days… I am busy with weightloss and counting my kcal so it’s a necessary thing for me. In stead of burning around 400 kcal at night I now only have 25 to 30. Why the hell did I bought a new tracker? Does anyone have a solution? I wear my tracker tight enough around my wrist.

Hi, @MarijkeM the calories you burn while sleeping are almost entirely BMR (basal metabolic rate) calories. These are calories burned by bodily processes keeping you alive (respiration, circulation, brain function etc.). Fitbit uses a standard calculator to work out your BMR calorie burn based on your personal details - age, sex, height and weight. You can check your estimated BMR calorie burn using an online calculator such as this . It will tell you the BMR calorie burn per day and from that you can calculate the per hour burn (divide by 24) and then multiply it by the number of hours you sleep.
The calculation is entirely app based and not your tracker and you would see these BMR calories in your Fitbit app as soon as you set up your account, even if you had no Fitbit at all! The tracker calculates calories based on activity and heart rate and these are added to your BMR calories to give your total burn.
If your app is showing only 25-30 calories for an entire night’s sleep that sounds wrong to me. I would expect it to be several hundred. In this case I would recommend checking to see that your app is up to date, or even deleting and reinstalling. You will not lose any data doing this, but make sure you know the email address and password associated with your account.
It is possible that there is currently a bug in the app interfering with calorie calculations. I have not noticed widespread reports of this, but I will keep a look out. In the meantime it would be helpful if you mention whether you are using the Android or iOS app in order to look into this further.
I hope this helps. Welcome to the Community Forums.

Thank you for answering! I tried to reinstall the app completely, and I’ve checked all the parameters, they are correct. For now he did it well for the last two days, I hope it stays this way.

I am glad to hear that your app is currently correctly calculating your sleep calories following the re-installation. Hopefully the issue will not return!
