Post update charge 6 chose rowing when swimming

I never set the activity manually and it automatically knew when I was swimming and recorded as swimming. Today the 1st time I went swimming after the update it buzzed me a few laps in. I kept swimming. When I was done it recorded that I had been rowing. Time was correct but not activity. And why when I am swimming over a mile does it only give a few hundred steps. Step equivalent charts show much more
