Scratches in plastic or coating back of Charge 6

1000017127.jpg

The Charge 6 used to be smooth and no scratches a week ago.  I don't remember seeing anything on it since but I wore it for 4 days straight without charge.  I did try to clean the band part of the watch with polish remover.   I fear some of that liquid might have got under it as well, not just on the band.. I also went swimming with it.  I don't know which of these might have been related to the scratching if either.  Also,  I do have hairy arms.  But I can say is that the watch was very comfortable prior to getting scratchy on the back for the last month and a bit.  Now because the watch is less smooth, I feel it's itchy a bit on my skin.

I'm wondering if there's something I can do to fix this.  Is there particular coating that is on the back of the Fitbit that I can re-apply.

Is there a way to fix the scratchiness?

..

Hi @Topcop1977  you used fingernail polish remover on plastic? It actually eats plastic. I use rubbing alcohol to clean mine and have no such scratches. I don't believe there is anything you can do to replace the coating. If it's itchy, try using medical tape on that spot (on your wrist) and it should help. It's the same tape people with tattoos will use so that the heart rate sensor works for them.

I wasn't meaning to get any on the watch itself.  I'll was on the band and it was on a wiping cloth.  But I think some of it got to the back of the watch somehow.  I should have removed the watch from it first.  Rookie mistake for sure.  I've ordered some polywatch hoping it will do the trick.  Because for sure it was a good watch otherwise.

If the band isn't very dirty, a simple baby wipe will work. Let us know how the polywatch works, it might help out another member.

after one treatment of polywatch scratches are still visually there, although I think it appears a little less extreme around the sensor. Also it feels smoother.  I'm going to try treating it a couple more times over the next few days. See if it improves further.  But I'm glad it feels better. Hopefully that will not make it as itchy.

@Topcop1977thanks for letting us know. I wonder if that would help people who might have an allergic reaction to the sensors.

I don't know how.  I think it's a Polish.  It doesnt fill the holes as far as  I could tell.

It does. You having any problems getting the sensor to pick up your S02 or heart rate? Hope it's not itchy like before.

Even when it was scratched, the sensor seem to work and it still works.  It is less itchy now.  Not quite where it was when it was new because there are still micro scratches on the back especially on the edges.  But certainly it's usable now and it doesn't bother me at night anymore.
