Screen wake and sleep mode settings on Charge 6

Hi, I am a long time charge 4 user that just got a new charge 6 for Christmas. On my old charge 4s, I was able to set up a sleep mode schedule so that my display would not come on during those hours I was sleeping. At the same time, I had the screen wake setting to auto. This allowed me to flick my wrist to see the display, during the hours which I wasn't sleeping.

After spending a lot of time trying to set up my new charge 6 in the same way, It appears that these two functions are incompatible on the charge 6. I can set the screen wake to auto, and it works fine. That is until I try to put sleep mode on and set up a schedule. The screen wake setting then defaults back to manual, even though I am outside those sleeping hours.

Is this how it is supposed to work on a charge 6, or am I doing something wrong? If this is the way it's supposed to work, it's very unfortunate and a step back from the charge 4. Hopefully I'm making myself clear. Any advice or answers you could provide would be appreciated. - Phil

Hello, @PhilMorettini Welcome to the community.

I appreciate your post and explanation about this situation in regards to setting up your new Charge 6, I understand you'd like the old setting from the Charge 4 too and this situation may be difficult.

I was able to confirm you contacted support and they were able to provide you with a solution, if you have any other questions or concerns, my best recommendation would be to contact them once again.

I am having the same issue. What was the solution?

Hi, there was no "solution" per se. Unfortunately, I find that most Fitbit support reps know less about how the product works than I do, just a normal user. I found that the Charge 6 works differently than the Charge 4 in this case.

As I stated, it won't let you choose both "Sleep mode" to "on" and "Screen Wake" to "Auto" at the same time. BUT, if you set up a sleep schedule, the Charge 6 AUTOMATICALLY in the background toggles into sleep mode once you hit the hours of the sleep schedule, AND turns the screen off unless you physically hit it to view it during those hours. Outside of those hours, Screen Wake then goes back to the "Auto" setting that I set up.  So it does what I want it to do; it just doesn't do it like the Charge 4 did and the user interface and documentation don't make it obvious. And of course, the support people seem to have no clue.

Hello @PhilMorettini

I would not be surprised if the change to the Screen Wake was a requested feature. I've read user posts where they ask how to turn off the display screen at night when they're sleeping. They mention that when they move around while they're sleeping, auto wake causes the screen to display and it's bright enough to wake them. We encourage them to set up Bedtime mode.

With the way Bedtime mode now works, the user has to be awake to tap the screen or button to wake their device. Restless sleepers no longer have to deal with their Fitbit screens light up & waking them up. Plus, the manual wake during Bedtime mode should help conserve battery.

I think they mean 'Sleep Mode', not Bedtime mode.
