How do I get date to show on home screen?

I hope I'm understanding your question.

I'm not sure which clock face is the default one on the Charge 6. If it's one that doesn't have the date, you should select a different clock face from the Gallery. This article has the instructions on How to change change the clock face (<-- click link)

On the phone app, go to Gallery and select Slashed. Or Runliner. (Or one of the other clock faces that show the date). I prefer Slashed, it shows day and date on one line, time on one line, and some other data in easy to read format.
