So there's no way for my 13 year old kid to use this product

My kid got a Charge 6 for Christmas. At first, she couldn't use the watch because it required a non-child Google account. She turned 13 yesterday, so after "graduating" her account, we tried to sign her up again today. Now she can't sign up because her account is "supervised."

So, the only way my 13 year old daughter can use any of your products is for me to give her a fully unsupervised Google and Gmail account?

Uh, yeah I think we're returning this device.

Hello @ginsengbomb

Although it's likely that you've already returned the Fitbit, there is a workaround that allows a 13 year old child to use a Charge 6 and can still be a member of Family Link. This thread (<-- click link) explains how to do that.

Basically, you remove your child from the Family link, she sets up the Charge 6, and agrees to be a member of the Family link, returning to being a supervised account.

I appreciate your pointing that out. I did see that workaround. I also saw
posts from a lot of people complaining about that workaround working
initially and then failing later. It makes sense that this workaround
wouldn’t be a permanent solve (ie the Fitbit app probably doesn’t check
Google account type every time you open it but I bet when it does, this
workaround needs to be gone through again). With the relative feature
parity of fitness tracking smartwatches I definitely don’t want the one
that requires me to temporarily disable supervision on a 13 year old girl’s
Gmail account to sign her up. Particularly since the maker of this
smartwatch plainly has no interest in fixing the problem.

Anyway yes my kiddo has a new Garmin on the way now. I do appreciate the
advice though, thank you! It’s a shame, I used to absolutely love Fitbit
products, I can’t believe this severe a problem would be allowed to persist
this long.

I could have written this myself! This is entirely NONSENSICAL!  Im so annoyed.  I want to keep my 13 year old supervised, and be able to have a fit bit on, mainly for calls, calendar, notes, reminders and things of such that help her stay on track with responsibilities. I dont really care about the fitness part. Anyhow, yes this is annoying and I too will return the fitbit.  It is useless for us now.

I could have written this as well! My 13yr old son has been having issues regulating his heart rate, He has BAV with Aortic Dilation. His dr suggested a general monitoring app for self regulation before we try an expensive hospital monitor. I gave him my Fitbit Sense 2, to try and help him regulate and me see his account as needed. Did the work around to get his account setup and still cannot add him as my child. So I cannot see his Fitbit activity. I turned the parental controls back on. This is ridiculous. I have been a fitbit fan for over 10yrs. Always had the latest and new devices. With this development, I have officially canceled my fitbit order and went with a new Samsung. Its the same price as a new fitbit with way more features! And for the google bots that started sending me Pixel ads shortly after my canceled order, I tried the pixel phone until the battery blew out the back of it 6m in to owning it. NO thanks.
