Hello @marc_yeee and welcome to the Community.  Yes, your sleep stages don't require Premium.  You also get a 30 day average of the time spent in each stage and benchmark data that compares your sleep to others in your age group.  It's helpful to know that the information from your sleep stages is only 25% of your sleep score.  The other 75% comes from other aspects of your sleep: the total time you are awake vs the total time you are asleep, your sleeping heart rate (and how much time your sleeping heart rate is lower than your resting heart rate), and the percentage of time spent tossing and turning.

I can no longer see REM and Deep Sleep analysis on my Charge 6. Just Awake, Restless and asleep. Appearance of report completely changed. Why?

Hello @John.uk

This community blog post (<-- click link) describes the redesigned Sleep section. The REM and Deep Sleep data should still be available in the app with the rest of the sleep stages information.

Could you please provide a screen shot of what you're seeing?

Hi Rieko

Just over a week ago, I struck a problem that my Charge 6 which a Chat
with Fitbit resolved by disconnecting the Aria Air.

During the process, i had deleted and reinstalled the App more than
once. The appearance of the Sleep screen was very different and lacked
REM & Deep. See April 15 screen shot. It was the same each morning
until today when I did get REM & Deep - see April 21 screen shot.

So it seems the problem is solved. However, last night I went to bed
later than normal after a party with friends. Could this be the reason
it worked?April 15April 15April 21April 21

Hi @John.uk

I'm glad to see that you finally got a sleep graph with your sleep stages.

The time you went to sleep shouldn't have made a difference in tracking your sleep stages so I'm not sure why you weren't seeing those earlier this week.

I did see a Moderator's post yesterday (19 Apr 2024) that they had done some maintenance, which caused syncing issues for some users, including me. Maybe that maintenance is what fixed your sleep stage issue.

For now, please continue to monitor your sleep log and data. If you see a problem again, please start a new topic. We'll do our best to help you.

Hi Reiko

Thanks for your help.  Sleep tracking worked again last night.

By way of feed back, I am not keen of the new way of showing the sleep timeline in monochrome rather than colour and the many dotted lines.

Hi @John.uk

Thanks for letting us know that you got another night of sleep tracking. Hopefully, your Charge 6 will continue to consistently track your sleep.

Personally, I'm hoping that when the dark mode option is finally available for the Fitbit app, that will make it easier to see the graphs.

Hi Reiko

Thanks for your help a month ago, but details of REM & Deep sleep only lasted till the end of April.  It then reverted to Awake, Restless & Asleep.  What has gone wrong?

Hello @John.uk

I just want to confirm that you're just letting your Charge 6 automatically track your sleep and not manually starting your sleep from the device. I've seen posts explaining that doing a manual start & stop of your sleep will result in the basic sleep log, like what your screenshots show.

Are you having any issues with your Charge 6 tracking your heart rate during the day? The heart rate sensor is needed for tracking sleep stages. You can check by placing your finger across the back of the device. You should see the green light when you lift your finger.

Hi Reiko

Thanks for your reply and I can confirm I am relying on the Charge 6 to automatically track sleep.

And yes the green light is flashing as I take it off my wrist and again after lifting my thumb.  The heart rate record shown in the App seems accurate. In fact every other aspect of its tracking seems very good - I am just lacking the REM and Deep analysis.

I think I read that it needs 3 good hours of sleep to do this. The analysis I get shows I do have short restless periods.  Are these enough to stop the full sleep analysis?

Thanks for your help.

I had this exact same problem the first night I had my charge 6 13/05/2024 to resolve this I went in to app setting and turned the sleep setting to sensitive and have never had this since. You could possibly check you have your sleep app setting set  at sensitive

Hello @John.uk

Thank you for your response to my questions.

Oh, you just might have figured it out. If you're not getting at least 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep during the night, that could be the reason why you're not seeing the REM & Deep stage data.

It might be worth trying @Edword suggestion and changing your sleep setting to see if that will help you get REM and Deep sleep stage data. If you would like to try this:

  • Tap on your picture (Android) /gear icon (iOS) in the upper right of the Today page of the Fitbit app
  • Select Fitbit settings
  • Tap on App Settings
  • Tap on Sleep Sensitivity to open the popup window and change from Normal to Sensitive/Sensitive to Normal
  • Tap on the arrows in the upper left to return to the Today page

Thanks Edword for your suggestion which I have now done. However, Reiki, even after deleting and reloading the App there is no gear icon on my Today page. However on the sleep page three dots top right allowed me to select sensitive. I will report tomorrow.

I spent a long time yesterday researching Community and the User Manual.  It was extremely frustrating. For example ECG has disappeared.  And sometimes trying to reset the Charge 6 through its settings it was not there.  Having used an Inspire HR for several years, I am regretting buying this Charge 6.  Useless features such as YouTube music, credit card, Google maps all things which I have on my phone and are much easier to access.  It seems to me that since FitBit sold out to Google it has lost its way.  IMHO the FitBit should be entirely controlled through the App all this swiping through irrelevant screens!

Edword, I tried your suggestion but unfortunately still did not get REM or Deep reports.  The principal effect seemed to be that I was more Restless and less Asleep, which I suppose is the intended effect of the Sensitive setting.

I am at a loss as what to do or where to go next!
