Hike: the maps work fine.
Walk: they do not.
So, I'm not just missing the maps, but also the finer details, such as heart rate and pace gradients over time.
I can just set the exercise to Hike, and sometimes do, but then when the Charge auto-detects a Walk, I'm stuck with that.
I don't remember this being an issue on my Versa 2, which recently burned out.

Hey,
I think the best settings for a walk, especially when you want to see the map, are:
- on exercise app/walk turn on GPS, auto pause, auto end but turn off auto detect and start a walk app manually from the exercise apps anytime you want to see a map added. During the walks you don't mind the map, just leave it and it will detect a walk anyways after 10/15m but without map and related stats.
Charge 6 works a bit weird in here. It detects a walk (without the map) automatically plus if you have autodetect turned on in the walk app, it will record it twice, as a separate exercise but with a map. With autodetect on walk app, any time you will start walking +10/15m it will start asking you to start the app. Probably something that software engineers should work on.

Where does one change those settings for the walk? I figured it was something like that, but haven't figured out where to go to do that, between the watch, app, and web site.
And thanks for the additional advice on the bugs!

Regarding the walk with the map - you need to go on the watch to the exercises/walk, tap on it then scroll down. In relation to regular walk autodetect (without the map), through the web dashboard - on the main page click on the gear icon in top right, then Charge 6, expand exercises autodetect and there you can adjust the time of autostart. Can't see this setting on the mobile app.
You can also check the option to turn off autodetect for a regular walk without the map on the web and turn on autodetect on the watch in exercises/walk. Haven't checked this combination yet, but I suspect, if you won't start a walk manually, then it will ask you to turn it on after 10m/15m. Data wise not sure how the map will look like. If it will show you full record or just from the point, where you agreed to start the exercise app on your watch.

I was having the same issue with my Charge 6. GPS was on. (I had tinkered with the settings to be sure GPS was on.) Auto detect was on but I was starting/stopping the walk myself because 10 minutes is too long for auto detect for me. I want precise distance - not starting 10 minutes into the walk. When I synced, there was no map showing in the exercise. Then at some point I tapped the screen on today's Walk where it showed the different stats for that exercise, and the map appeared. It's very quirky. Sometimes it is there and sometimes I have to tap it to show the map. Looks like once the map is showing it stays until I close the app. When I go back, I have to do that tap inside the specific exercise (walk) again but I can't really tell where I'm supposed to tap. Fitbit needs to work on this for sure. Also, the graphics in this version of the iPhone app are noticeably worse than before. Colors are hard to distinguish to the point that I can't really tell what is what on the walk. Slower and average pace colors look the same in my phone app. Colors on the the desktop app are better but the map there doesn't show pace in colors since it has the seperate Pace chart.

Hello @amheyman
Page 39 in the Charge 6 manual (<-- click link) has information about using GPS with the Charge 6. Hopefully, this is the information you are looking for.

Thanks! I had no idea you could scroll down when starting an exercise. Just always hit start arrow :play_button: It's been driving me insane not having my workouts mapped. Thanks again!
