Why G.mail?

I set my account with my usual e-mail but the app seems to be insisting on G.mail.  Why?

Hello @Nicho52 

Late last year, Fitbit/Google announced that they are switching to using Google accounts for Fitbit and all accounts will need to migrate to a Google account by early 2025.

Users getting new devices, like the Charge 6, are required to migrate to a Google account in order to complete setup.

I've replaced my original e-mail with my  Gmail one. I had the 'verify' one (which I did click on to initiate...)and nothing since.
Still can't get the device to spek to my app - or anythng else!  It works, insofar as it is on and charged but cannot get it to speak to my app. Even had my 13 year old techi grandson onto it and he gave up too.
