Did you mean:

You can't sync your device without giving it access to my location all the time.

I used to be able to sync my device while giving it access to my location while using the app. Now it says it needs my location at all times, even when I'm not using the app, to sync my device. This is ridiculous and utterly preposterous. I've had to create a special button on my phone screen to toggle the permissions of fitbit when I want to sync my device. The fact that I had to do this is unacceptable.

There is no reason for fitbit to know my location at all times (when I sleep or with the kids or on holiday) profiting off my locational data for me to be able to use a watch which I bought and to use a premium service which I am paying a monthly fee for.

True @ChronosMrk1 there is no reason for fitbit to access location during a sync.

However 8-9 years ago it was discovered that during a sync, it was possible for an unknown party to take over control of the phone

Today we have another reason

It is not just fitbit, and Google watches, smart scales, even my smart lights app require location access for this reason. I believe this was implemented with Android v5, and took 2 more years before iOS fixed it
