Charge HR battery dies and wont charge

So I guess I will post my frustrations as well. I have been reading these posts for the last 4-6 weeks as I have been fighting all the same issues with my Charge HR. It has recently developed poor battery life (went from 3-4 days to less than 8 hours in some cases), hard to re-start when the battery dies, won't charge sometimes, and won't sync. I have uninstalled the android app and re-installed it, I am on the current software update V122 (which seems to be when all my trouble started in the first place when my tracker updated to the V122), restarted my tracker more times than I can count, and as of now my Charge HR is nothing more than a non syncing paperweight. Very frustrating to see so many people having the same issues. In my opinion all of these issues are related to 1 of 2 things; the latest software update or a poor quality product. I had a Flex for over a year before my Charge HR and NEVER had an issue with it however my 5-6 month old Charge HR has been very dissapointing.

Hello @TexAco, welcome aboard to our community! I can understand your frustration and my first suggestion would be:

  • Each alarm you add up to the maximum of 8 reduces battery life by a small percentage.
  • Frequently pressing the button to check your statistics or the time may reduce the battery life.
  • Since Quick View causes the screen to light up whenever you turn your wrist towards you, turning this setting off may prolong battery life. When Quick View is off, press the button to see your stats.
  • If you’re syncing with an Android device, the Always Connected option may reduce battery life.
  • If you're syncing with any Fitbit app, the All-Day sync option may reduce battery life on both the tracker and mobile device.
  • Charging your tracker in extreme heat or cold may reduce battery life.

I also recommend cleaning the charging contacts on the back of your tracker. Over time the contacts can accumulate dirt and debris that prevents them for taking a good charge. Use a toothpick or toothbrush to clean the charging contacts; do not scrape them with anything metal because this can damage the plating and result in corrosion.

  • If you don't need a heart rate rating, change the Heart Rate setting to Off. The Auto setting uses less battery than the On setting.

If this is not helping please take a moment to reach out to our Support Team and let them know of your efforts to troubleshoot the issue and what you've already done. I have full faith that they will be able to advise you of the next steps after reviewing your device history with you.

See you around and I hope this helps.

Hi TexAco

I sympathise with your fustrations. After endless  rounds of e mails  bteween the team at Fitbit  I now  have a replacement Charger HR en route. I think that you have to be remarkably tenacious. Mine  gave  up the ghost after two weeks  but it has  taken nearly three  weeks  to get the  situation resolved and a considerable  amount of tongue biting in trying to  be polite  when I like you assume the product is  fundamentally faulty. Keep persevering

Best wishes

I also never had issues with my flex fit bit.
the Alta HR continues to randomly not charge. I have purchased new Fitbit chargers.

i have cleaned the fit bit with toothbrush-

it is not even syncing and green light will not come on.

i just charges it earlier this week and it was fine.

i have tried to reset it twice now and that also is not working.

this is frustrating

any ideas?
