Please add a 'report' button for users who send inappropriate messages

Many women are receiving multiple messages from male 'users' who join Fitbit to contact women and not to step.  This is harassment and unacceptable.  Please add a feature so we can report these to Fitbit who can then delete/block the user.  At the moment, all we can do is block the user personally which doesn't stop him harassing other women on the site.  I have upset, humiliated, harassed friends and this is unacceptable.  Please help.

Thanks for sharing your idea @alex45674.

I could absolutely see this being very useful for lots of users.

Let's keep an eye on what other users think.

I would completely support this functionality being developed. Fitbit should be a safe space for fitness but unfortunately there's a small population of inappropriate users and it would be great to be able to report them.

I completely agree with this idea.  I get several friend requests each week from "men" who are looking for something other than step/fitness support groups.  We really need a way to prevent this type of harassment.

Re: Constant Fake “Friend Requests”

Please add a “report user” function to iOS app — either that, or develop an internal protocol to prevent spambots creating fake accounts.

I and other users constantly receive "friend requests” — 3-4 per day — from “men" with “no recent activity.”   Some individuals have accepted invitations and have been linked to porn sites etc.

Please make Fitibt a safe place for all.  Thank you!

I absolutely agree with this. It seems the “Fitbit predator” phenomenon is growing rapidly. I’ve had s few challenges recently subsumed by conversations about this and I’ve seen some comments by female users upset enough they’re considering stopping app usage and challenge participation. It seems irresponsible that you don’t already have something like this built.

I agree that we should have the ability to report unnecessary comments from other users. Where are you with this issue? I don’t see that option yet - it needs to happen sooner than later.

Since becoming a member a few years ago, I've noticed a steady increase in the way some users are utilizing this app more as a "pick-up" app than a fitness app. I'd love to see helpful settings available to prevent this. For instance, and from my perspective as a woman, I should be able to sign into this app as myself and not fear being "hit on". I shouldn't have to hide the fact that I'm female. I shouldn't be made to feel like the only real option to prevent this behavior (and it isn't her behavior) is to change my account and pretend to be "male" so I'm not harassed. This is a fitness app, people. Go to the many available hook-up sites to hook up.

And forgive me if men are also being "hit on". If you are, you're probably just as frustrated as I am.

BOTTOM LINE: Could you please set this wonderful app up in a way where people can feel safe to Friend each other for fitness reasons. I don't know how to do that but perhaps the developers who make this app so great can figure out a few good ways. It would be so very helpful. Thank you!

(And yes, I've already turned off my FRIEND REQUEST feature, but I hate that I have to isolate myself. That's not what this is about, now, is it? I want to make fitness friends. I want to be a part of the community.)

One thing Fitbit could do is to not allow friend requests from those who have "no recent activity", probably don't even have a Fitbit.  These guys are clearly not here to get fit, and should not be able to harass those of us who are.

It’s about time Fitbit steps up and take this matter serious! Or is Fitbit as a company encouraging behaviour like this? I start to wonder since nothing happens. SHAME ON YOU!!!

Please add this to Fitbit so we are not being slammed with bogus friend requests that have nothing to do with being fit nor do they use a Fitbit for health.  These men need to be stopped.

I agree that community users need tools to empower themselves to remain safe while participating in community activities. This problem is real.

I got a friend request a couple days ago from someone advertising their porn site and I have no way of reporting their account.

Hi @alex45674 I'm sorry you've had this experience. The ability to block and report other Fitbit users exists currently - you can learn more about how to do this in our help article here (see also 'What is Fitbit doing to keep the Community safe?). Thanks for participating in Feature Suggestions.
