Fitbit Ace LTE app shows notifications, but there are no messages

The app on my phone for the Fitbit Ace LTE keeps showing that there are messages with a red 1 or 2 next to the app on my phones home screen. When I open it, there are no messages.

Sorry to see that you're having problems with "phantom" notifications. What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far to clear the notifications?
