Historical message xfer to new Pixel phone

We've had the Fitbit Ace LTE for about a year now and have really enjoyed it. But I recently upgraded my Pixel 6A phone to a Pixel 9 Pro phone and found that the historical messages from the Ace LTE app did not transfer. Ironically my wife also upgraded her iPhone but her historical messages did transfer. Why is it that a Google pixel phone has less functionality in historical message transfer than an iPhone for the Fitbit Ace LTE. Does anyone know how to transfer the historical messages before I turn in my old pixel phone? And yes, I did do the data transfer from one pixel phone to the other pixel phone using a USBC cord, but that still didn't transfer the historical messages from the ace LTE app. I was able to backup the voicemails that my daughter sent me, but it looks like I'm going to lose one year of cute text messages from my daughter. If this functionality does not currently exist, the software developers need to get on this ASAP.

Hello @Tom578

I'm trying to escalate your issue to the team. If there's an update on this, I'll report back.

BTW, have you submitted this issue using the Feedback option in the Ace LTE app?

  • Tap your picture in the upper right of the Ace LTE app
  • Tap Feedback in the menu that opens
  • Complete the prompts and submit

The Feedback reports are received by the team for review.

I have reported it via feedback in the app. I had also tried calling Google support and was told I'd receive an email as they couldn't resolve it on the phone. An email a few days later said they didn't have any resolution. 😞  ...."This is an update on your issue with the missing old message on your new phone, we review this issue and we don't have an option to transfer the message log. The messages are kept locally on the watch and the parent's app, but there are no export options for a new device. "

I would think this would be an easy fix as it's just txt and emojis. I'm logged into the same Google account on both devices and the historical movement data does show up on the new phone, so why not the messages?  I even tried installing the Ace LTE app on a iPad and had the same issue.

Thanks for listening. Any further help would great for the next phone upgrade. I hope Google and Fitbit can resolve this so other parents don't loose their kids old cute messages.

Hello @Tom578

The team member that responded to my issue request pretty much said the same thing as what Ace LTE Support told you - there isn't a way to retrieve the historical messages. It was very disappointing to learn this. I agree that a parent using an Android phone should be able to transfer the historical texts, along with the other data in the Ace LTE account backup, when they change phones.

Please submit a feature request in the Product Feedback forum (<-- click) so that we don't lose track of this. I understand that the developers monitor this forum to see what features are being requested for potential future implementation.

When you create your feature request, please consider replying to this thread with a link to the request so that other parents/guardians can add their vote & comments.
