I'm really confused. Got 2 watches for my children so we can communicate as a family,
- First I learn you cannot communicate unless you have the app, arbitrary but ok I get it for safety maybe??
- Then I learn you have to have a Gmail account to even have an ace account, so not only do I have to convince everyone in my extended family to download an app, I have to convince them all to make a Gmail account as well?
- Now I'm learning as I'm setting up the 2nd watch, they can't be friends or text each other?
The watch works fine and all and the kid enjoys it, but for a day or two, if they can't text their sibling or friends with a watch then I give it a week before this device becomes a sore spot for the child since all they can do is tell time and text only people in their family with Gmail accounts. So strange.
Am I mistaken on any of these points? What on earth would be the reason for this other than an underbaked product?

Hi @Onlyoverkill - I am sorry but you are not mistaken on these points. It's a highly requested feature to be able to talk to siblings - I recommend reaching out on the feedback section of this forum to let the squad know of your request, here is a link to another post about the same thing: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Product-Feedback/Ace-LTE-siblings-can-t-message-or-talk-to-each-othe...

Copy. Thanks but I'm just going to return both watches. Found TickTalk watch and that seems even better than this and doesn't have all these arbitrary restrictions.
I think Fitbit made a mistake here thinking kids want an activity tracker rather than their first version of a phone. If you don't put kids in front of screens, they anre active, you dont need to track it. Which is why the games on the watch are an even stranger choice.
