Hello,
According to my bank, ING Netherlands, I should be able to make payments with my fitbit sense.
They mention fitbit as a supportable wearable device:
https://www.ing.nl/zakelijk/corona/afrekenen_zonder_contact.html
However, there is no way to make this possible at the moment.
Is there a way to make this happen?

Hi Ray,
I found this thread online and thought I should reply for other ING customers who are searching for ING possibilities with Fitbit Pay. I think you're reading the shared ING weblink the wrong way around. This url is addressed at business owners that own/use a PIN device for transactions in their shop, which support Fitbit Pay, off course. The url does not at you as a ING customer with a Fitbit on your wrist. Because a PIN device accepts different banks and isn't bound to ING, Fitbit is mentioned as an example of a wearable that supports payment. It may be a poorly chosen example, but explains why the article is correct. I am not an ING employee btw, just someone wo read the article in a different way 🙂

Hello @Raybeezs according to Fitbit ING is not supported - https://www.fitbit.com/global/us/technology/fitbit-pay/banks but as you mention on the ING site they do refer to it. Other websites I found did not mention ING or they complained that it was not supported by ING.
I guess you can try to add a card - https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2236.htm but it doesn't look promising.
It does work well on Rabo and ABNAMRO if that is an option for you.

What do you mean, @Raybeezs by no way to make this possible?

Hello,
Is there an update on this? Has anyone managed to setup their fitbit sense wallet with an ING Netherlands debit maestro card? The fitbit pay is still listed as “supported” on the ING website, but the bank is still not included on the list provided by Fitbit.

Hi @vera.const when you try to setup the card, how far do you get?
is there any error messages you can pass on to us.

Hello,
You cannot go pass even the first step. The Dutch Maestro debit cards (or at least the ones ING issues) do not have a traditional 16 digit card number inscribed on the card; they have the IBAN attached to card (alpha-numeric), a 6 alpha-numeric character “card number” (Pasnummer), the expiration date and a 3 digit tracking number (Volgnummer).
It’s worth mentioning that the Apple pay setup for this bank is done through the ING app; i would expect something similar to be needed for Fitbit Pay. Here is their tutorial for Apple Pay (maybe it’s of some help to understand): https://www.ing.nl/particulier/betalen/betalen-met-je-mobiel/apple-pay/index.html

Then if your bank says Fitbit pay is available I would think you would have the same option in your ING app. If not then you may want to call the number on the back of your card.

@vera.const the 'card number' that ABNAMRO and RABO use is not the same as the account number (and card number) as shown on you card. For these 2 banks the information is obtained from your account information.
I have looked again on the ING site but I can't find any information regarding paying with Fitbit. I'd be interested to know where you read that it is supported? Furthermore, ING is not listed by Fitbit.

Hello,
Same as Raybeezs above: https://www.ing.nl/zakelijk/corona/afrekenen_zonder_contact.html
As others have mentioned before, we’ve noticed that there is a an inconsistency between this article and what is listed on the official fitbit bank list. It’s also a bit odd that even after 2 years Fitbit pay still doesn’t support ING in the Netherlands.

Hi @vera.const - OK - if you read the article, it is for business accounts and it says - Your CUSTOMERS can pay with contactless methods such as Apple Pay, or via wearables such as Fitbit Pay or Apple Watch. It does not say that as an ING account holder that you can pay with Fitbit.
In other words, if you have a company (with an ING account) you can ACCEPT payments from a Fitbit user (ABNMRO/RABO).
Hope this helps.

I still think it is worth a call to ing. It can't hurt and it will let them know their users are interested.

After a few calls with ING (Netherlands), I finally received confirmation that, up to now, ING does NOT support Fitbit pay. Unfortunately.
When asked when they think they will support it, there was no conclusive answer. They just don't know.
The person I spoke to was also suprised that this was still on the ING support site.
So far....
Hopefuly in the near future, maybe Fitbit can play a role here?

Hi Mike,
I tried to connect with a business ABNAMRO account (My wife has a business account ABNAMRO).
This is also not supported. I contacted the bak and tey said only customer accounts are supported to pay with Fitbit.

Hi @Raybeezs and @tommyfits,
in Germany we also have the issue that nearly no bank is supported by Fitbit directly.
I use Revolut as prepaid credit card instead. This works great. You can create a virtual credit card within the Revolut app within minutes and add that card to your Fitbit device.
To add money to your Revolut account you can use any credit card (or other options). You can even activate an automatic service to add money to your virtual card. I use Revolut nearly every day.

@tommyfits: You are completely right! It got through to me when I read it again a while ago. 😉
The article is indeed talking about a PIN device. They only mention that Fitbit Pay, among other wearables, are supported.
It's a pity though that they themselves do not support Fitbit. 😑
