Now anyone ever get that annoying thing when just wanting to look at the weather on your device and have it suddenly go blank and say something like update with the app to see the weather? After about a billion times of syncing your app, restarting your device, force stopping the app, and many other things. It finally works again. Well, I would have those troubles and it would happen once a week. Well, I soon figured out that I mostly had caught it at the time that it was auto syncing the weather. It would take (if you had counted the minutes when doing all those trouble shooting like I did.) About the same amount of time for it to fix itself as it did when you tried to fix it. Now I am sure there are many ways you can find out on your device if it shows if your phone is near or not.
Mine being a versa 3 I can go to any of the activities and scroll to the bottom. If it shows a phone with a line through it then that is how I know but if nothing shows then it is good. The reason it does that is I think it is doing an auto sync. Just go out of it and back in and 99% of the time that vanishes.
Then go to your weather thing maybe wait a tiny bit and if no change then tap and look at the minutes since last synced it might have already auto synced or if you see it change when you are waiting then it is safe to tap it and look at the hours ahead because it just auto synced.
That is how it was solved for me. Also, it can't hurt that if you wake in the middle of the night to go do your business take your phone with you and check your device then. This way you won't have that problem when you first wake in the morning.
