Weather app - No town name when I do a search.

Weather app crapped out this morning.  I got my town and dash dash degree sign. I synced, then I deleted the locations I had and tried to re enter them.  When I put in the town name, I get a blank screen,  Nothing, nada, zilch.  And before anyone tells me to restart anything, I did, phone, blue-tooth, watch, fitbit app.  In addition, I paired and unpaired, deleted the ionic from the app and re added it.  Customer service suggested i uninstall and re-install the Weather app,  But it doesn't give me the option.  It just says install,  there is no Uninstall button.  So, no weather for me I guess. Smiley Sad

And the stupid thing is it was working last night,

I had the same problem, initially..  What worked for me was stepping away from my wireless connections (Wi-Fi & Bluetooth).  When I got back home and the Ionic reconnected, bingo, the Weather app found the cities like it was supposed to.  So, that is what worked for me, maybe it will work for you!

Gotta say, the Ionic is worth the effort, Loving it!!!!

Nothing was working, then I couldn't update.  I finally just did a factory reset on it. and set it up again, which required me leaving it hooked to the computer all night.  Now I'm getting the "Unable to connect to the Iconic" message, and I can't sync.  I'm starting to think that I bought a $300 paperweight.

I couldn't get any towns to show up in my weather app till I went outside and let the GPS find me. Then it found my town when I typed it in. I now have my town and a current location in my weather app. The current location is not correct. I think it is getting that location from WiFi. How can I delete the current location? I don't see the little delete symbol in the app.

Same issue with mine, right out of the box two days ago. If this doesn't resolve it's going back into the box.

Robyn go outside or stick the watch in the windows for a few mins and let it find the gps. Then try searching for your town again.

That is what Fitbit CS told me.  The GPS needs to sync up with the weather app.  Works like a charm now.

@RobynUS mine works now, after I have been out and away from wifi and bluetoth. Got out of the house and away, turned on gps, walk a little and voila....when I got back, it worked..

Well my weather app was working. It picks the wrong town for current location so I entered my town manually. So I had two locations that were working. Then today the weather app would not update either location no matter what I did. I removed the manually entered town and now the current location town updates but I can't add my town back in. This app is not working like it should be.

So, just how long do you need to be outside in order to sync with the GPS system?  I have tried and tried and tried again, but nothing has worked yet -- not at all.  Current location doesn't work, I can't enter a city name -- it'll just say "loading" for a few seconds, then "loading" goes away, and I get absolutely nothing.  I have been outside many times, I have tried entering a city utterly dozens of times -- again, how long do you need to be outside in order to get this GPS system thing to work?

@SunsetRunner. disconnect your watch from bluethooth and wifi, walk away and make sure you have GPS , that did it for me.

I have done that, many times.  What I don't comprehend is "make sure you have GPS."  I can't even figure out how to turn it on or off.  I have never seen any indication that GPS was working.  So, that's where I need more information -- how can you tell if "you have GPS?"

Well, having had the IONIC for 4 days now, most of that time was trying to figure out how to get the thing to work.  Thanks to everyone for all the workarounds, but none, even the idea of taking a walk to let the weather app reset, didn't work.

What DID work was a total reset of everything....unpairing from app, reset the Ionic to factory settings, uninstall and reinstall the phone app.  After all of that, things to be in shape now.

I find it atrocious that you spend so much money on a device and so many people have to spend their free time trying to get it to work.   Try doing a "soft release", Fitbit, before you start taking orders and collecting the money.

p.s.  I also have a Samsung Gear S3 Frontier, which works flawlessly out of the box.

BTW my Ionic did almost nothing correctly....no syncing in a timely fashion, no correct weather app, and the firmware update took 6 hours (not 10 mins) to complete, crapping out twice before it was able to complete.

That is the most depressing thing I have read about the Ionic, so far.  Especially given the COMPLETE NIGHTMARE I went through during the initial setup, where it utterly WOULD NOT complete the firmware update.  I just don't know if it's worth three hundred dollars if I have to go through that nightmare again.  And perhaps again and again and again.

OK, I have gone outside, started the "Walk" exercise, and got the GPS to "connect."  Still, I absolutely, utterly CAN NOT set up any cities in the Weather app.

I tried removing the Ionic from my account, then setting it up again.  Still, I absolutely, utterly CAN NOT set up any cities in the Weather app.

If I have to do a factory reset, I think that rather than running over my Ionic several hundred times with my car in my driveway, I'll just take the thing back and save myself three hundred dollars.  This is absolute, utter INSANITY.
