Weather app is not updating on my Versa

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

A few days ago I noticed the weather not updating.  When I click on my weather app,  it says sync the fitbit mobile app to update.  So I sync the app and it does not update.  I checked my location services,  I restarted my phone,  I even restarted my fitbit.  It won't let me uninstall and reinstall.  Can anyone help?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Canella1! Thanks for already troubleshooting this inconvenience updating your Weather app on your Versa, nice way to go! Robot Very Happy

Keep in mind the following requirements to update your Weather:

  • In order for the Weather app to work, launch the Weather app on the Fitbit device, then choose the location in the Fitbit App Gallery > Weather
  • When you change location and the weather hasn’t updated in the new location, remind that you must sync your Fitbit device with your phone for this update to occur.

Additionally to what I posted above, you can try the following:

  1. In order for apps to access the internet, your phone must be nearby with the Fitbit app running in the background and Bluetooth turned on.
  2. Some apps, such as Weather, require All-Day Sync to be turned on for data to be sent from the Fitbit app to your watch:
    1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon > your device image.
    2. Find the option to turn on All-Day Sync.
  3. Check if the app has a pending update. For instructions, see How do I install and manage apps on my Fitbit watch?
  4. Turning off app permissions can cause the app to stop functioning. Check that all permissions are turned on:
    1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon  > your device image.
    2. Tap or click Apps.
    3. In the list of apps installed on your watch, find the app whose permissions you want to change. You may have to scroll down to see some apps. Tap or click the name of the app.
    4. Tap or click Permissions.
    5. If any permissions are turned off, turn them on. Note that some permissions can cause your phone to use more data.
    6. Tap or click Save to save your changes.
  5. Your watch must be connected to Wi-Fi in order for some larger apps and clock faces to install or update. For instructions on connecting your watch to Wi-Fi, see How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi?

Hope this helps, keep me posted!

mine isn't working either. I tried all the steps they listed below and got nothing fixed. it stated I couldn't delete the current location and I accidentally did. now I can't get that added back either. hopefully someone can give better ideas?

Thanks for jumping in here @lilsqueaks and for following the recommendations! Please try restarting your Fitbit Versa by following these steps:

  1. Press and hold the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the buttons.
  3. If your Fitbit Versa doesn't work normally, use the instructions in How do I turn off my Fitbit device? to turn your watch off and on again.

Once you've performed the restart, try the steps I shared above

Let me know if this time your Weather app updates. I'll be around!

Hi
That still didn't work. The app now shows current location, but my watch only shows the added locations.

Didn't work for me either. And mine still does not show current location.

Thanks for getting back to me guys @Canella1 and @lilsqueaks. Are you both on Android devices? If so, please try uninstalling and reinstalling the Fitbit app (no the weather app). My sister reported that this restored the current location option.

Give this a go and let me know the outcome!

I reinstalled the fitbit app.  Fortunately,  it now shows current location.  Unfortunately,  it still says on my watch to sync the mobile fitbit app to update.  So. .. still not working...

My fitbit has never been set up for wifi.  And my weather wifi. Has worked for months.  Once the weather stopped working,  I followed the advice to set up the wifi, and my weather app works again!

Tried everything to get my weather app working, keeps saying to sync, do it but not working. Won’t add my current or any other place either. At my wits end with this now, I will be throwing it away.

Mine weather isn’t working either. It always says to sync, no matter what I do. I’ve tried all the steps above suggested and nothing works.

Welcome on board @Phebsss and @JANICE12345! Thanks for trying the suggestions provided. Nice way to go!

I'd appreciate if you can verify if your Versa is already running OS 2.2 (32.32.12.24). If so, try doing the following steps:

  1. Open the Fitbit app and tap the Account icon > your device image.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the gear icon next to Weather. You may need to scroll down to find the app.
  4. In the Temperature Unit section, tap Units and choose the unit you want to use.
  5. Sync your device and then open the Weather app on your device to see the updated units.

In this case, have you turned on location services already? This setting needs to be enabled for the cities to appear.

If you do have this enabled and the cities are still not showing; try logging out from the app, rebooting your phone, and logging back in. Also, check if you are using the latest version of the Fitbit app.

Let me know if this does the trick!

I am having the same problem and have for quite some time now.  I've tried everything and the app on the Versa will not update.  The units were in degrees F and somehow now show up as degrees C, so I changed it in my iPhone's FitBit app and synced my Versa, but the Versa will not update to show the new units or the current temperature.

I finally got mine to start working correctly the other day. I had to do a reset of my watch plus delete and re-download the app. Basically make everything go back to scratch. It’s working for now but I have lost a lot of confidence in the Fitbit technology. This will probably be the last Fitbit watch I buy. Just too many issues in general. Not correct on my heart rate a lot, not registering my workouts automatically, nothing seems to be syncing correctly all the time. So disappointing.
