I read with great interest the announcement that there was now a Blood Glucose monitor app that can interface with certain meters or take manual recording of the readings.  When I go to Discover, Apps, I can see apps, but no Blood Glucose monitor option.  Has this been removed?

I finally got an answer and was able to load the Blood Glucose app on my Android phone.  Basically you have to:

  1. Uninstall the existing app from the phone.
  2. Reset the Fitbit.
  3. Reload the app.

Your data will still be present, and the Glucose app should now be available if you want it.

I've had it for a couple of weeks and it is a great way to keep track of your levels, and whether or not they stay within a user defined set of limits.  The point graph makes it easy to see daily  weekly trends.  The app also makes it easier to take your measurements at the same time each day, and thus to plan your meals at consistent times.

I don't have a tile either, but there is a workaround.

According to their blog.

This is for the fitbit app. I found the glucose tracker under Discover - Health & Fitness.

Are you a OneTouch Reveal™ app user? Connect your app and meter to the Fitbit app by selecting the settings icon within the Blood Glucose tile.

This will allow your One Touch readings to be sent to Fitbit.

When I go to Discover, Health & Fitness Stats, I see the following apps listed:

- Mindfulness (not selected)
- Wellness Reports (not selected)
- Sleep (selected)
- Exercise (selected)

- Heart Rate (selected, but I don't have an HR compatible Fitbit and there is no way to unselect)

- Hourly Steps (selected)

- Menstrual Health (not selected)

- Weight (selected)

- Water (selected)

- Food (selected)

These are the only apps displayed.  Blood Glucose is missing from the list.

I believe in selecting would be done through the edit on the dashboard.

Than you for your response Rich.

I've opened the Edit function of the dash board on my Android device and the only apps/tiles available to be added are Menstrual Health, and Mindfulness.  There is no Blood Glucose app/tile listed.  The choices available are the same as when I go to the DiscoverHealth & Fitness Stats screen.

Its pretty clear to me that Fitbit is more interested in selling over priced watches (which are terrible at keeping time unless constantly synchronized to another device) than in actually helping people take an interest in their health.

For Diabetics, keeping a consistent diary of their blood sugar levels is a critical part of treating their condition, yet Fitbit isn't bothering to respond to emails or calls about why their app isn't usable.  Don't think I'll be wasting any more money on this turkey.
