I want to track my paddle board and kayak workouts anyone have any advice on which exercise app I could use? I wonder if the swim app would do that but the gas results are much different than laps, unless it would just record the mileage.

@Dawnlive2travel Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for your interest in tracking kayaking and paddle board with your Fitbit watch.
First of, I think an app with that capability is a great idea. So, I recommend voting for this idea I found on the Feature Suggestions Board:
I wasn't able to find an idea for a Paddle Board App, but you can add it as a new suggestion.
For the moment, you can log kayaking manually. This is a good option to log exercises. Paddle Board is not an option, but please vote for this idea that is asking for it to be.
Now, for the exercise options you have on Ionic; I'd recommend trying with each of them to see which one will give more accurate results for this kind of activity.
Hope this helps. Keep me posted!

There is a whole group that has been asking for a kayak option for several years now. Manual is not an option. Currently in the market for a product that will track kayaking. No longer using my Fitbit.

I agree I bought the Versa because it was waterproof and thinking I could track paddle board and kayaking. I still use it for biking but I am disappointed!

@Dawnlive2travel @Addicted2 Thanks for your replies and for your feedback regarding this suggestions about kayak and paddle board workouts.
The only way to have this is if a developer makes this app. That is why it is very important to keep voting for this idea as developers often take a look at the Feature Suggestions Board to check what users need the most. Please vote and comment.
See you around!

The kayak community has been waiting years for this app. Most have given up and gone to other products.

I agree. We need to start adding water based exercises to Fitbit app. I am targeting the Fitbit Charge 3 to use with water based exercise...swimming, water aerobics, kayaking etc....and I'd like to see selections on either Iphone device or Fitbit...not just Fitbit for some and app for others.....

Thanks for jumping in here @Iplaysoccer! Track specific exercises—such as run, bike, swim or weights—with the Exercise app on Charge 3 to see real-time stats, including heart-rate data, calories burned, and elapsed time, and a post-workout summary on your wrist. For complete workout stats, and route and pace information if you used GPS, review your exercise history in the Fitbit app.

Here we go:
The Exercise API added in Fitbit OS 3.0 allowed me to develop a Stand Up Paddling App. Just search for SUP in the store.

Yes, it should also work for kayaking. I'm working on a version where you would be able to choose the paddle type in the settings.
Happy paddling

Any further developments on the kayak tracking? Is this available for the Charge 2? If so how do I add this to my Fitbit / app to try it out?

Still working on the possibility to change the name of the activity. As long as the name ist not shared correctly in the Fitbit activities due a bug on fitbits site it has no priority at the moment. The app is not working on a charge 2. it is only available on Versa and Ionic.

I was excited when I discovered you have make an app that works for kayaking, I have wanted that for two years after I bought my Ionic.
BUT - the shop-and app system of Ionic is extremely confusing, I have searched from my android and PC logged on, and can find no trace of it anywhere.
They don't even provide a search-facility in the shop.
Can you please give step-by-step instructions for where to find and how to download and get it operating on my phone ?
And I mean step-by-step for dummies !!! EVERY single stupid (seemingly obvious) step.
PS: I also lack an app for cross-country skiing. The basics apps from Fitbit are just as inaccurate for skiing as for kayaking/paddling/SUP. There is after all a considerable number of crosscountry skiers north of ca. Oslo Latidude around the globe, many of the Fitbit-owners.
Thank Your from Norway.

My own comment to above:
Fitbit does have a picture of an Ionic with an app KayakTrac from the menu "Developers" bit clicking for more info just brings me to register as developer, not to any download or purchase.

Hi
The KayakTrac App is a scam. There is only a screenshot of it. I know, it is very frustrating at the moment that there is no way to add custom exercises for the moment. I think we have to be patient.
