I upgraded from charge 3 to charge 5. How do I activate 6 months of premium for free? I only have the option of paying for it. One of main reasons I upgraded was being able to have premium free for 6 months to explore charge 5’s new features.

Hello @Bdorf99
It should be free. When I tap on it, it asks me to provide a method of payment but also says that it won’t use that until the free trial ends. The small print underneath the checklist of Premium features and above the payment options says this.
If you remember to cancel before the free trial ends, you shouldn’t be billed at all. If you don’t want to give your credit card details you may be able to give iTunes or Google Play as your method of payment instead.
The key thing to remember is to cancel your membership in time if you don’t want to start paying after 6 months.
I hope that helps a bit.

When I purchased the Charge 5 the Premium was already there. After one month it is no longer. Haven't even been given an option to upgrade.

Hello @Isabel2
Go to the Today screen in the App on your phone. Tap Premium in the bottom right corner. Then tap Subscribe. Although I missed the window originally, mine still shows the option for a free 6 months trial.
Try doing it through the App.
I hope that helps a bit.

Isobel2, have you subscribed to Premium before? Mine indicated that the free offer was only for new users, although that wasn't made clear before purchase.

I should say I upgraded from the Charge 4 as I had two faulty Charge 4's. The first one didn't track steps on many occasions and the 2nd one fell apart. I upgraded to the Charge 5 after that experience. Can anybody help me now with how I can get my free trial. I have tried going to the subscription for Premium but it doesn't offer me a free option. Haven't used forums before so apologies if I am not going about this correctly. Any help in obtaining a free trial would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Isabel2, asking Fitbit customer support staff via the live chat is probably the best way to get help.
Notwithstanding what Wibby said earlier, I have read in multiple reviews of the Charge 5 that the six months of Premium is for new users only. I think seeking clarification from customer support would be a better option than asking people here.
When I got my Charge 5 it was not yet signed up to Premium but gave me the option of activate the 6 month trial.

If the Fitbit device you purchased indicates that it includes a trial to Fitbit Premium, but you are currently a Fitbit Premium member, then you must cancel your Premium subscription in order to be able to activate the trial. About 1-3 days after your canceled subscription expires, you’ll see an offer in the Fitbit app to begin the trial. For instructions on how to cancel your Fitbit Premium subscription, see How do I manage or cancel my Fitbit Premium subscription?
