Apple giving me 3mo trial but purchase was supposed to have 12mo -- how do I get the longer one?

Hi,

Apple says it will start billing me Jul 27, 2021 for my premium subscription and I trust them to do that lol.

But my purchase of a new Fitbit came with a 12mo free subscription to premium, how do I convince Apple to honor that?

According to Eduado on chat with Fitbit, you cancel your three month trial with Apple before it is up. Then 1-3 days later the app on the phone is supposed to prompt you to get your free year of premium. I cannot find this in any documentation, so I saved the chat incase there is a problem later.

I have set a reminder on my phone to cancel the subscription before I pay.

Ah that makes sense in a twisted sort of way. Actually I think you may not need to wait to cancel. I just cancelled my Apple subscription and it says the premium subscription will still be available until Jul 2021. Let’s see if it offers me my 1 year extension in a day or so!

Not yet. I was able to cancel my subscription without losing access to premium but no word yet about an extension to the trial. Fingers crossed that they’ll work this out by the three month expiration 🤞🏻
