Cancelled subscription, got charged and no refund

I cancelled my subscription during free trial, I have a screenshot showing its supposed to end on Feb 26th 2020. I was charged for it twice 2 days ago. They are saying they are showing that I have to go to google play store to cancel and get a refund but when I go to google play store I have no subscriptions. When I log onto my fitbit account it does not show that I signed up through play store, and it still shows that my subscription will end on Feb 26th 2020. So far the person I am emailing is refusing to refund. Does anyone know of any options? I do not have a fitbit anymore so the subscription is useless and it seems like they will just keep charging me over and over even though I’ve done everything I can to cancel. Plus they simply did not address the fact that my card was charged twice. This is quite literally theft and I don’t know what to do at this point.

@MareY Welcome to the Community. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with our Support team.

I appreciate that you mentioned how this situation has made you feel. It's pretty weird that you were charged doubled.

In this case, you may want to contact Google Play Store regarding the charges that were made. This is because the store where you bought it handles the subscriptions and they don't allow third-apps to access purchases.

Learn more about it by checking these articles: What should I know about Fitbit Premium? and Terms of Service

I also have been charged after apparently inadvertently accepting a free offer that was never used. I see charge on credit card and called and called to cancel. The Fitbit representative walked me through cancelling the subscription then told me I would not receive a refund. This is quite a set up. I hear this time and again. What a coup!

@Fitgift A warm welcome to the Community. Thanks for getting in touch about this.

I appreciate that you mentioned you have cancelled your subscription. When you start a free trial, you enter a valid payment method and you need to cancel before your trial ends to avoid subscription charges. Thanks for your understanding.

Fitbit made it impossible to cancel subscription.

Absolute joke, I cancelled within trial and they took money from my account. Will be doing an indemnity claim from my bank

I'm leaning this route as well, have been trying for 3 months (prior to trail ending) and no luck, run around every time

I started a dispute though my bank today regarding this. I cancelled before the trial was up and got charged. I've called twice and have been told I have a case that is being worked on. I don't know why I have a case as when I called the first time I was told my request was put through to the department that does the cancelling. I'm very pleased with my FitBit and was raving about it to people (and even encouraged a family member to buy one) until this cancellation fiasco happened. At this point even thought I still really like my Versa 3, I can't recommend FitBit to anyone because of what is happening to a lot of us. This is a bad business practice.

I returned my Fitbit within 2 days of receiving it.  It did not work well for me.  I am being charged for fitbit premium subscription when I do not even have a Fitbit.  I am very confused and Fitbit is not refunding me for my money.  I don't even use the subscription because I do not have a fitbit.  I would think such a large company would relieve a customer for such a small misfortune.  Very dissatisfied with the company.

We had the same problem. My account was apparently activated at checkout via the fitbit store at purchase, but the emails we received didn't have instructions on what service the account was through and how to cancel. I also had an account set up via google play, which I cancelled, and thought it would cancel the subscription, but instead we were billed. I don't even have a fitbit, I bought it for my wife.  Now I'm canceling her subscription too and the FITBIT will go into the e-waste recycling bin.

I've called and had it verified that my premium subscription was cancelled in September 2021. I just noticed that they are still charging me. I will be opening a fraud case with my bank. I have screenshots from a customer representative showing this as well.

Do not fall for this scam, deny the free trail or better yet, use a competitor.
