When I activated a new device, I was never prompted to get the free premium membership for six months. Instead, the app offered me a discounted year which I paid for, not knowing I was supposed to get premium for free. The payment was processed through Google Play. Neither they nor Fitbit (despite both being owned by Google) will refund me
