Guided Meditation Audios Keep Stopping

ANSWERED

Hi All,

I signed up for Fitbit Premium several days ago, and have been trying out several features, especially the guided programs.

Whenever I try to meditate using the guided meditation “Habits for Restful Sleep” program, however, all of the audio guides automatically quit out after a minute or so of playing. This is really annoying and beats the purpose of having a guided audio meditation in the first place.

I’ve tried restarting the app, my phone, and resetting my router and internet. My internet connection is just fine according to diagnosis app I ran.

Is anybody else having this problem, and is this related to the recent iOS update by any chance?

@KyungLK Welcome to the Community. Thanks for the details mentioned and the troubleshooting tried.

It's pretty weird that your guided meditation program quits after a minute or so of playing. I just tried setting a guided program and playing it and it worked for me. Since you've tried restarting the app, your phone and resetting your internet but it's still not working, please provide me with the following information:

- What's your phone model?
- Are you using any sleep settings on your phone for example Do not disturb mode?
- What OS are you using?

Let me know how it goes. I'll be around if you need further assistance.

@SilviaFitbit Thanks for the response. So the symptom is more like the guided meditation pauses and I have to go back to the app to restart it, after which the audio usually pauses again after several seconds.

I tried playing the guided meditation again, and this time it switched to Apple Music app and played a song that was in the background without being prompted otherwise.

I’m using iPhone 8 with the latest iOS13 build. My phone is set to go into Do Not Disturb mode at night, but it wasn’t on when the guided meditation kept pausing.

@KyungLK Thanks for getting back.

I appreciate the details mentioned and the information provided. In this case, I would like you to make sure you don't have any other apps that play audio running in the background.

Let me know how it goes.

@SilviaFitbit @I tried closing all other apps in the background but the result is the same.

I have the same problem. I’m on iPhone X on ios13.

Reinstalling the app doesn’t help either

Hi, have you found solution to your problem?

Have exactly the same problem when listening to any relaxing tools. It stops some tenths seconds after the screen is locked. Some times, when returning to the app it says "internet connection was lost".

@KateOctober Hey, I haven’t found a solution and the support gave me no help. I gave up and signed up for a different meditation service. I’ll be canceling my subscription to Fitbit Premium when it’s time to renew.

@SilviaFitbit Have exactly the same issue.

iOS 13.2.3 iPhone XR, the latest Fitbit app...

With the audio file based meditations (where there is an audio player embedded in the “page” for the meditation) eg “positivity affirmation” that’s found on Habbits for Restful Sleep. As soon as the phone screen goes to sleep the mediation, whatever you have stops and you have to unlock the phone to restart it.

Hardly relaxing...

For the sleep stories, meditations etc they are different, a video file for some reason rather than just plain audio. So the screen stays glowing away playing “the video” again hardly relaxing for a sleep program! If you put the screen to sleep the video and audio stop.

Fitbit needs to fix this otherwise this feature of Premium is completely pointless.

Came on to post something similar.

Why is this not showing up as a media player? It shows no notification that it is playing any audio and then is paused if you turn the screen off. Instead the screen has to be on for 20 minutes

@SilviaFitbit you can see a few more people reporting the same problem. It’s easily duplicated.

Your thoughts?

having the same issue, am using iOS.  thankfully i'm on the free 7 day trial so i don't feel too bad as no money has been lost:)  wish it could be fixed though because it seems like it would be pretty great BUT definitely not relaxing at this point since it keeps stopping unexpectedly!  pretty aggravating actually.   bummer.

This is also happening to me.  It's a little frustrating that the programs that we pay for don't work the way they're supposed to.  I will look for a different program, too, and I've already cancelled my renewal.

@SilviaFitbit This feature needs fixing. It is part of the PAID premium offer, part that you are still advertising - for example in your New Year promotion emails, but it DOESN’T WORK.

It needs fixing. And it needs fixing urgently. It does unfortunately speak volumes of the level of product testing that is carried out (how does something this simple get through?? What about the complicated stuff that we are relying on), and the level of resourcing of the Fitbit software team that this bug still exists months after the Premium launch.
