How do I active a 6mo free trial with an existing account?

Dear Fitbit community,

For the past 3 years I've had a Fitbit premium account, which I pay for annually. I let this lapse at the end of the 12 months as I have bought a Charge 5 watch from the Fitbit store which comes with 6 months premium membership. It is my understanding I had to let my Premium membership lapse before I could activate the free 6 months.

As a returning Fitbit customer how do I activate this 6 month membership? Is there a code or will something show up on the app when I link the new watch?

In the meantime I have an email from Fitbit to take up a 90 day free trial offer. So, can I make use of the free 90 day Premium trial, cancel it before the 90 days is up & then go on use the 6 month free Premium afterwards? Or is there a time limit on the 6 month membership that I have to activate it once I start using the new watch? I would like to start using the new watch as soon as possible.

Thanks for your help.

I am here trying trying to find out why I was charged after activating my 6 month free subscription and it turns out that you only get the free subscription if you've never had a Fitbit account before.

It doesn't say that when you're signing up you just find out once they bill your credit card.

So that means even if you had one of the older fitbits from 2018 that premium subscription counts towards your one per person free premium.

Please start your own thread @Carriezest instead of hijacking mine! You can have the free 6 months whether you are a new or returning Fitbit customer, it says that on the box. You have to cancel your free trial before the end of the 6 months otherwise you are billed. That is all quite clear from the outset.

Whoa what, there is no need to be nasty,  I didn't hijack YOUR thread, thats not how forums work.

I just offered feedback because I was here to find out why my card was charged immediately after signing up with the code on the new Fitbit

After reading several other threads and fitbit responses I learned that's that's why I was charged.  Goodluck.

@Wexford_Lass There is no time limit to the 6 months of free premium that comes with your device. So I would take advantage of the 90 day free trial offer you received, cancel before it renews, and then use your 6 months of premium.

Hi @Heather-S  actually that didn't work. Because I had already purchased the new watch I wasn't eligible for the 90 day free trial & got billed for 12 months when I proceeded to activate it. I am in the process of getting my money back from Apple.

@Wexford_Lass Ah gotcha. I'm not sure what the verbiage in the 90 day free trial was, it must've been specific to certain customers or timelines. Hard to advise without reading the official offer. I'm sorry you were charged and hopefully Apple can credit you back. But the 6 month free trial should still exist as long as it doesn't say new customers only.

@Heather-S  I think the issue was I purchased a Charge 5 watch from the official Fitbit store just before my Premium subscription expired (I let it expire to take advantage of the 6 months free which is for new and returning customers).  So in the meantime I got the 90 day free trial email which I know now doesn't apply to me as I had already bought the new watch with the 6 months free included. I did tell them on the live chat I was not impressed because the email with the 90 days free arrived in my inbox after I purchased the new Charge 5, very confusing. It should never have been sent to me. I am sure the Apple refund will go through. I won't add the new Charge 5 watch to my account until the refund has gone through in case that complicates matters even more lol. Thanks for your help. Julie
