Is the subscription required to view sleep stats?

Hi Fitbit,

May I just voice my disappointment with the fact that you make Sleeping Heart Rate and Restlessness a paid feature now! This is a gross business practice. What's next, I'll have to pay to track activities or access my daily heart rate logs? Fair enough that the access to extra features such as workouts is extra, but sleep tracking is standard feature of Fitbit. Outrageous.

I agree! I was very suprised that a watch i paid 2000 nok for (versa 2) did not include all the stats in the app. This made me concider Apple watch for my next purchase or even refund this purchase. Its not that these stats are super important to me, but I bought this watch for sleep tracking and it in the long run a subscription free option will be cheaper in the long run. Also the signals I get from Fitbit when I need to pay for stats that my watch already tracks, is not what I look after in a company I concider delivering a semi-premium product. Hope this changes in the near future.

A premium service for workouts or other external programs I dont mind at all.

Hi @SilviaFitbit ,

You keep repeating this Silvia, but even JuanFitbit has admitted in his post above that there are a bunch of people here who, whilst researching their fitbit and checking out the app, would have seen sleeping heart rate and sleeping restlessness available for free. And then after purchasing and using their fitbit for sometime would have seen the features get locked into premium.

Juan says they were a trial, but there was certainly no indication to end users that it was a trial or that we were viewing a premium feature.. He admits that they were free and are now locked.

Regardless, locking up basic tracked data under premium subscriptions when people have already paid a premium for the device is not cool.

On the upside this certainly has been a longer than normal thread that has clearly struck a chord with some of your customers. I wonder if @SunsetRunner the original poster ever envisaged it going this far?

I do this is truly ridiculous and unfair. We need to speak out and take
action! Or corporate companies like this are going to continue screwing us

@G-Man_505 I didn't think this thread will get so many people involved, but it only goes to show that a lot of users feel ripped off and cheated by this.

Your reply makes it sound like this was always the case, it just recently changed because we were all getting those features of sleep information included - didn’t have to pay extra to see it. You start taking features away just to get us to pay for a subscription, isn’t going to end well for your company I’m sure. People are very upset by this poor customer relation.

I’m sorry to disagree but I had the sleep information available for several months - I bought my Versa 2 in the beginning of October and have viewed the sleep information since then, now 2 1/2 months later I have to pay to see the same information. If they produce a new feature to add to what we’re already getting I’m with you, pay for it if you want it - but to take things away that we’ve had for a long time and say you now have to pay is definitely not good business.

Hey everyone! Sorry for the delayed reply.

I truly appreciate your feedback about Fitbit Premium membership features.

If your watch isn't showing you sleep stages, please try the tips mentioned in this article: What should I know about sleep stages?

All users worldwide receive the free version of sleep score if you get sleep stages. If you purchase a Fitbit Premium subscription, you'll receive more details about your sleep score, including sleeping heart rate and restlessness. However, this doesn't mean that you're not going to receive restlessness information if you don't have Premium. Check the screenshot below to find more details:

I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

I have been getting my sleep heart rate and restlessness information since I bought the $250 Fitbit Versa 2 at the beginning of October, then all of a sudden within the last two weeks I don’t get the information anymore and now you say I have to pay for a Premium subscription in order to get the information that I had been getting without the subscription since October - very poor customer relations to take away what I already had and what was promoted as included when I bought the Versa 2.

Same here, I'm starting to feel this will be my last device from Fitbit. When last year I decided to buy my Versa that cost me £179 I never thought Fitbit would charge me for these features that should be free (and are free in other Fitness trackers).

I understand why you charge for Fitbit coach, but charged for us to access our data it's unbelievable.

You are purposely not answering why you took away the sleeping heart rate and restlessness part of the information and locked it down when it was included and it is what the device collects.  Please answer that and stop repeating what has been said.  Thank you

Yes thanks for opening topic. Disappointed. One replyer mentioned forgetting and re-installing and said sleep function appeared. Haven’t tried yet. Nonetheless I’m in healthcare use SpO2 as I am sure many Fitbit folks.....Fitbit would most likely do better by making this app free for at least an intro period. Best

Yes I would like a solid answer as to why my restlessness has been taken
away and my sleeping heart rate has been taken away when it's all
information that the device collects

Hi everyone!

First and foremost, I would like to thank each of you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding Fitbit Premium and it's sleep feature-set. I want to assure you that your feedback has been heard and is being forwarded to the appropriate teams, here at Fitbit.

As it's been mentioned several times on this thread, I do think its important to reiterate that no previously free Sleep features or analysis have been moved behind the Fitbit Premium paywall. Though, there was a brief period where Restlessness and Sleeping Heart Rate were available as a preview for certain users. For a full list of Sleep features that Fitbit Premium has to offer, check out this article.

Since this thread has been open for some time now and it does not appear that we are covering any new ground, I will be closing this thread to further comments. If you have any questions which have not been answered within this discussion, I invite you to open a new topic and I will happy to assist you there. Thanks all!

@Keric12 That's a good question! I know that the Versa 2 Special Edition included a 3-month preview to Fitbit Premium. This is likely why you saw Restlessness and Sleeping Heart rate for the past 3 months or so.
