Did anyone else 'misunderstand' the Silver and Fit promotion for Fitbit?
Now that I am a Senior Citizen, I decided to take advantage of the 'Silver and Fit' promotion on Fitbit Devices. I was looking at a Charge 5 and what sweetened the deal was that it appeared to me that it came with a one year free premium membership.
link to a screen grab of the Silver and Fit web page)
So it came in the mail toady and went to setup the premium membership. Long story short, I was required to purchase the $39.99 Accidental Damage Coverage to get the 1 year free membership. I only found this out after chatting with one of the support agents. She provided me with a link to the Charge 5 which clearly indicated that the $39.98 Accidental Damage coverage included the 1 year premium membership. In turn, I sent her a link to the Silver and Fit web page that I ordered from which made it appear (at least to me and my wife) that it was included in the Silver and Fit promo
(This is a link to a screen grab of the regular web page that the agent sent me which clearly shows what I am talking about) Charge 5 Web Page
(This is a link to the Silver and Fit web page that I ordered from) Silver and Fit Charge 5 Web Page
I don't understand why Fitbit decided to make it so clear/obvious that you had to buy the Accidental Damage coverage on one page yet they did not on the Silver and Fit page, but whatever... left a bad taste in my mouth since it seems to be a little disingenuous to me

Hi @J0hn007 since Fitbit's price for the Charge 5 is $149.95, I can't imagine where you went to get $99 for it. What is the url you went to for this discount. The link you posted is just to the image sharing site, not the url for the site where you purchased the device. I am going to ask a moderator to stop by to look at this. To me, given the price and the forced purchase of the protection plan, it seems like a scam, but a Fitbit Moderator would at least be able to tell us more.

"Is a comprehensive health and wellness program that offers participants an extensive Fitness Center network or a Home Fitness program to help older Americans stay healthy as they grow older." It is for Senior Citizens (65+) who are on Medicare and pay for Medicare Advantage which includes the Silver & Fit program depending on the insurance provider. A participant is able to select one 'home fitness kit' each year. Examples are - swim kits, weight kits, fitness trackers, etc - here is a web page that explains it more:
https://www.silverandfit.com/home-kits
So I was interested in a fitness tracker and had the choice of one from either Fitbit or Garmin. The price was free for either (it's included in the Silver & Fit membership) and I opted for the Fitbit Inspire over the Garmin. I was given a 'promo code' and then a link to redeem the code on the Fitbit website.
https://www.fitbit.com/welcome/silverandfit/
Once I logged in and entered my code I was then presented with some other options if I wanted to pay extra for a different model (refer to the link below for a screen grab). I started looking at the Charge 5 which had a price of $99 and when I looked into it further it appeared to me that it came with a 1 year premium membership, which has a value of $80 so it sounded like it was a pretty good deal. (I have Zero experience with these things). So I went ahead and ordered it from the Fitbit website, it was shipped from Fitbit and I received it today. I then found out that it didn't come with a 1 year membership, I was required to purchase the extra insurance and had I known that, I would have just stayed with the Inspire 2 for free...
And yes - I do feel a little scammed. On the web page that Fitbit agent sent me the link to, it clearly indicates I have to buy the accidental damage plan to get the 1 year premium membership, yet the page for the Silver and Fit program does not? (I showed the Silver & Fit web page to several people an they were also in agreement that it was included)
I can't post the direct link to the Charge 5 web page because you have to enter a Silver & Fit promo code first to get access. I previously posted the screen grab of the Charge 5 page I ordered from and if you click on the link below you will see a screen grab of the 'fitbit.com/global/us/store/silverandfit/products' page along with the devices available for me to purchase. Again, keep in mind, the discounted price is for Senior Citizens who pay for Silver & Fit and you can clearly see in the URL that it is from fitbit.com

Hello, yes - your support team basically blew me off. Very disappointed in the way this was handled. At this point I filed a dispute with Visa over the misleading webpage which made it appear the 1 year of premium was included when in fact it isn't. Next year when I get the opportunity to pick another tracker through Silver & Fit, I will be sure to go with Garmin. Lesson learned

I don't mean to be rude but the old phrase 'a day late and a dollar short' comes to mind
I have already submitted to the dispute to Visa. (3) chat sessions with Fitbit, posted on Fitbit forum and also contacted Fitbit on Twitter got me nowhere.
If your really want to help, why doesn't someone try to do something with the misleading web pages at your Fitbit Silver & Fit store:
https://www.fitbit.com/global/us/store/silverandfit
I just checked and nothing has changed:

@J0hn007 Thank you for sharing your feedback.
In our official website we provide with different promotions to all our users. As you mentioned, currently we have the Bundle & Save option which includes 1 year of Premium + 2-year Protection Plan when you purchase the Charge 5 tracker. Different promotions are handled with fitness programs, since most wellness program administrators provide an specific code that includes their own health plan benefits. Sorry about the confusion, we'll pass the information to our team.
If you need more information about your case, it'd be best to contact our team. Click here to get connected.
Hope this helps
