Unable to cast premium videos for Android and iOs

I see there are several posts since 2020 already about Premuim users being unable to cast the workouts to the tv. Trying to do them on the little phone screens is frustrating at best. I was really looking forward to my workout today.

Given that nothing has been done about the possibility of casting for the past couple of years makes me think theres no intention of it ever happening.  It seems Fitbit don't really care about their customers. I have a chat with customet support and their answer was: " go and vote" , " Use Google home to see if it works"  really? Is that the solution Fitbit is offering? So. Desapointed 😞

I just mirrored my iPhone (from the control center) to an Apple TV or Airplay 2 compatible TV. and it worked fine last month.

This link shows various methods of mirroring the display of an iPhone including the method I used from the control center.

I tried it again this morning and mirroring (selected from the control center) my iPhone screen to both an Apple TV or AirPlay 2 compatible TV worked showing Fitbit videos in full widescreen.

Hi thanks for that, I have an android though so use chromecast

Best Answer

Same thing just use the screen casting option from the android swipe down to show shortcuts and select. Screen casting option selected from the shortcut menu will mirror the android display.

I have an iOS device. I recently noticed I can cast to a Google device (Chrome Cast) or AirPlay. I have Fitbit Premium.

@YojanaFitbit   This Apple Support page has the necessary information to mirror an iOS phone to another Apple device using AirPlay.  No iOS Feature Suggestion is necessary.

I do not have Apple TV or iPhone so I cannot help much, I guess.  But I do have a Samsung tv and Samsung phone.  It took me about 20 minutes, but I was able to cast the video to the TV through the Samsung smart things app that serves as a remote control.  The image was as big as my computer screen, but I take the win of having the image on the TV rather than my phone.   If I can do this with Samsung, there has to be a way to do it with Apple.   Good luck!

That’s disappointing, I’m on the 6 month premium trial.  I won’t renew the subscription if this isn’t addressed in the next 6 month.  Trying to watch a workout on your phone just doesn’t work.

You can on iOS with either an Apple TV streaming device or a TV with airplay 2. Just mirror the iPhone to one of those options

I never use the workouts I PAY for because I only have access to them on the phone. Please either make it available to chromecast or even make an app for smart TV's!

These are just general instructions. I can play any video (YouTube, movies) from iPhone through mirroring except Fitbit videos. I’m beginning to thing this is an intentional design to prevent people who own gyms from using them in this way.

I uninstalled and then reinstalled Chromecast on my smart t.v. then I was able to use the little cast tab on the workout video and cast it to my t.v. maybe that will help some of you guys out

When I first started back in Dec. 2021 I couldn't cast to my t.v. and it has Chromecast built in. It's an android t.v.  but my son was recently messing with it and tried uninstalling the Chromecast app and then reinstalling it and it started working so now all I need to do is hit the tab in the corner of the workout videos and it works. Hope this helps you.

Same problem with my Samsung.

Guess they haven't sorted it yet. Or ever.

There is no function to watch the premium workouts on my TV after all these years of fitbit users calling for it - Watching them on a phone is not practical.

Les Mills has a wealth of videos ALL available through an app on my TV.
The workouts on Fitbit premium just about make paying a monthly subscription worth it.
Will go back to Les Mills for workouts & ditch Fitbit premium subscription after the trial period.

All the statistical info on the Fitbit app should be available at no extra cost.

Also if you're not going to keep more than 90 days of data on my account please let me download it as a csv file.

In contrast MyFitnessPal has years of data for me to monitor my progress - FOR FREE 🤷‍:male_sign:

Netflix doesn't cost much more & look at what you get on there 😄

Les Mills £9.99 and masses of fitness videos & challenges on my TV

I can watch loads of free fitness videos on YouTube - why would I pay £7.99 a month to Fitbit for almost nothing. 😳

I won’t be continuing with premium if you can’t cast from an apple iPhone device!
