As per the subject line - I've got a Sense, but have heard that some of the hardware features, or 'static software' features, are locked behind a (fairly expensive, for what it provides) subscription. Is this the case, what is locked (I'm still in my six month trial period, but am unlikely to renew) and is there any scope to unlock the hardware features without paying for the rest of the premium service (which I'll never use - I have a chronic health condition and most of the Fitbit premium features aren't relevant to my personal circumstances)?

@Axe99 Welcome to the Fitbit Community.
Your feedback and comments are appreciated, we're always striving to improve our services offered. Thanks for sharing how you feel about this.
Fitbit Premium is your personalized resource in the Fitbit app that helps you stay active, sleep well, manage stress and more. Since you have a Fitbit Sense, it has access to the Health Metrics tile which is available based in the tracker that you have and the region where you're located, in order to see historical data and your personal range for each metric, a subscription is needed.
Also, you'll have the stress management score, which is available to you without Premium. If you'd like to see a breakdown of what's affecting, upgrade to Fitbit Premium.
At the moment, it's not possible to pay only for certain Premium features. If you'd like that this could be an option in the future, post your idea in our Feature Suggestion board, those are reviewed by our team and the status will change depending on Fitbit plans.
Hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure premium is only 10 a month though

Thanks Sylvia, that's good to know. Also appreciate the idea of a suggestion - I have a long-term health condition, so while the various metrics are all very helpful, things like work-out videos et al are completely out of scope (and I probably wouldn't need them if I was healthy, I had no trouble staying healthy when the bod played ball). Given this, my interest is purely in the statistics.
@Dezzzzzz It's $16 over here, which is more than it costs for Adobe's Photoshop/Lightroom package, Office (on five machines), Spotify, Disney+, Amazon Prime et al. Relative to what that provides subscription-wise elsewhere, at least for what I'd get out of it, it's a terrible value proposition. Silvia's suggestion of different tiers is a good one - at the moment, it's more than I'm comfortable paying because I'm only using a small proportion of the content (and an even smaller proportion of the content that needs resources spent on it to be maintained/updated).
