A swimming fitbit device

I would love a fitbit device for those who usually go to swim. What do you think?

I think that would be a very popular device. 

 

The problem, I suppose, is that it's not just a case of making a fitbit waterproof (which should be straightforward) but how would such a device track swimming? Would it have to detect strokes instead of steps? How would it work out distance?

 

I would imagine that it might have to be a new device that is designed to track swimming rather than enabling existing devices to do it.
