Activity data overwritten by MyFitnessPal

I just went for a walk and it tracked it fine and showed me the map of the walk, my distance and all of that good information.  I closed out of the app and went back in and now I can't find that data.  I do see "an" activity there for the same time of the activity I just completed but it's from MyFitnessPal and it reads as: Walking, 3.0 mph, mod. pace, walking dog (MyFitnessPal) at Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at 3:05PM.  It doesn't show the map and it doesn't have the miles.

I also use Runkeeper and Runtastic when I go for walks and most if not all of them feed into MyFitnessPal but I don't want anything in my Fitbit data except fitbit.  I do want Fitbit to feed into MyFitnessPal though.

Hello @RobsIT.

I definitely see how that could be bothersome. It definitely seems to be that MFP logged the activity over the one tracker by your Fitbit. Because of the way the apps are designed to work, it is not possible to have data travel from one app to the other but not the other way around.

I'd like to know if this has happened before? An activity with a map and everything disappearing? If so, please let me know when. Also, what tracker are you using.

Look forward to your reply.

Hello,

Looking through my activities I see this has happened a lot. Oddly enough,
Thursday 9/21 I have an entry via MyFitnessPal AND Fitbit for the same
activity. Fitbit has the gps map but the MFP does not (which it never
does). The other times when the MFP has replaced the Fitbit activity
entirely is:

9/20
9/19 (there's 2 entries from MFP for the same activity)
9/12

I have the Fitbit Charge2 HR. When I go for a walk I use 3 apps because I
have different friends on all the apps; Fitbit, Runtastic and Runkeeper.

Hey @RobsIT.

Thanks for the update. I'd like to ask you to please take a screen shot of how it looks when both activities are logged in and when only on is showing up.

Additionally, I'd say that it is best to only use one or two of the apps to log the run. Ideally using one would be best but information from Runkeeper doesn't sync to Fitbit, while some of Fitbit's information does sync to Runkeeper.

Look forward to your reply. Let me know if you have any further questions.

I've attached screenshots of when both MFP and Fitbit recorded and remained
and when Fitbit was overwritten by MFP. The issue is more so that those
apps sync with MFP and then it syncs with Fitbit. Fitbit should be the
authoritative source for Fitbit data. If some other data does come in for
the same time Fitbit should overwrite it, not the other way around.

Hello @RobsIT.

Seems like the images are not coming through.

I'd definitely recommend that we try to avoid using MFP to log activities and let Fitbit move information towards MFP instead.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

How do I allow Fitbit to send info to MFP and keep MFP from sending data to
Fitbit? If they are linked I thought that information flows both ways.

Hey @RobsIT.

It's not possible to have information go only one way. The only way to avoid details going from MFP to Fitbit is to not log anything on MFP.

Hope this clarifies the situation. Let me know if there are any questions.

That makes sense. But why wouldn't fitbit just log them both? It does
some times.

Hey @RobsIT.

I wouldn't be able to explain exactly what is going on or why this is happening. It could be some sort of error or issue with MFP or Fitbit. For the time being I do think that doing it like I mentioned above is the best option.

In the meantime, perhaps you could try to visit one of our Discussion boards. Lots of different topics to discuss in there.

Look forward to your reply.
